We do have a party of five rather than four, so I suppose we have a slight advantage over a standard group.

But noting that the skeletons haven't done anything yet, perhaps we can parley with them. Skeletons parley, right?

Typically they are mindless and simply follow the directions of whoever created them.

That they have rings that seem to be their source means they are unlikely to be typical :)

It also means they have a convenient weakness.

I see a number of potential options here:
  • Use acid to dissolve/corrode the rings, rendering them unusable
  • Use magic fire to melt the rings (the melting point of silver is 1,763°F/961.8°C, so conventional fire will be unproductive - perhaps our dragon augur could conjure something
  • Do some precise shots to forcibly remove the skeletal fingers, and thus the rings
  • Grapple a skeleton, remove the ring arm, and beat the other skeletons with it
  • Compliment the skeletons on their attractive rings, ask who their jeweler is, etc., and flatter our way through (note: given our party's generally low charisma, this may not be tenable)

Here's a rough map of the first floor of the vessel, should you all wish to enter (it's up to you!)



Here is what Aredhel may glean from Carus's investigation:
1: The entrance. broken into the hull of the ship is a way in - several sturdy planks ramp upwards to allow entrance.
2: Six hammocks are on this side of the ship, one high and one low on each section.
3: The main mast pole for the ship.
4: Three were-rats sit here on rickety chairs. They look like flea-ridden, underfed wretches. they are playing some kind of gambling game with knuckle-bones on the table and arguing amongst one another about how hungry they are.
5: A hessian sack sits here, next to the rats.
6: A seperated room without a door. Contains two chests, one broken.
7: Stairs up to the deck.

Several torches are in holders along the walls. The place is filthy with faeces and general waste, and smells horribly (think dead mouse/rat smell.)
I'll draw up the 2nd floor at a later date.

Also a disclaimer: don't pay TOO much attention to the Pathfinder's were-rats as according to the book or website; I'm trying to equalize things for the game and it may not match up to what the pathfinder book says. This goes for all enemies, past and future.

It was good to wake up today and see that nearly everyone had posted already :D Anyone know of Dozus's whereabouts? :p

I'm thinking i'm going to make a couple of changes when we get to the second chapter (hopefully not too far away). Some changes to the system and rules for simplicity, and some changes to the way I run the game - I know i've pretty much railroaded you all in one direction and i'm thinking of making the game more open-ended for you all, plus perhaps give time to work on character development.

I'll run it all by you gents when the chapter's ended anyway; i'll get your opinions and advice before I do anything drastic :D
