Author Topic: Upset Barbarian Horde is Greatly Upset (Read 2995 times)

"This emptiness upsets me greatly." ~Barbarian Horde

There are 184 empty category combinations left on the Citadel (out of 196 when we started). I counted them, and I was terrified that I would be eaten by a grue every step of the way. Each of these empty combinations greatly upsets the Barbarian Horde, and nobody likes an angry Barbarian Horde.

There is a way to fix it. Write a submission to fill this ugliness!!!

I heard "Strolenites are waaaay too creative to leave category combinations blank." So the challenge is to you. Appease the Barbarian Horde by choosing a topic below and writing a submission to fill the void.

I was wondering the same thing. Some of them are so exclusive that they don't make a lot of sense. On the other hand, many submissions cover several categories but can only be entered into one. For example, the http://strolen.com/viewing/The_Sea_of_Snot is a location but it also has lifeforms.

True enough. Perhaps a list of checkboxes for the subcategories could be implemented instead? That way, you could have a Location classified as City/State/Underground. Adding the ability to multiclass a sub as Location/Lifeforms would be cool, but would be more work.

I was actually inspired to write Icegate because of all the upsetting emptiness I found when I looked for a Door in the Arctic. Later, I took it upon myself to fill all of the emptiness I could find at Strolen's, but I found so much emptiness that I decided that I'd need some help.

When I'm writing a submission, I open a new window to look at existing freetext. It would be really nice if context-sensitive freetext suggestions were provided. Maybe a button by the freetext: "Suggest some freetext" that populates the freetext field?

By the way, it is incredibly difficult to write large nested lists on this forum. Here is my solution when you want to enter a sublist:

Click at the end of a list item ("li") but before the closing tag ("/li") in code view.
Click the Insert List.
Toggle back to display view to type.
Repeat as needed.

That's 5 down and 190 to go. We are 1/39th of the way there, and it only took about 3 weeks! At this rate, we will have filled all of the emptiness by August 15th, 2014.

That sub was written in 2009. How did you hide it until now? Well at least it helps appease the upset Barbarian Horde, so it works for me.

It was basically a sub that has been started and then stagnating in my In-work Private for years and I only recently turned it into a stub. Actually, I put it under Ethnic/cultural and having Area influence when I first put it out in stub format but then I was thinking abt it one day last week and realised it actually fits in better under the Local influence instead.
