After wrestling with some ideas in my head about starting my first roleplay as a GM I had an idea for a possible new submission.

What about a codex of GM articles that specifically target those relatively new to GM'ing and those wishing to start their first ever roleplay.

How about it? Does such a submission already exist? If not, do we have enough articles and the like to make a codex worthwhile?

And finally, would anyone be willing to help me in setting up my first roleplay as a GM ?

Just to name a few. There are so many articles on it in the Articles setting with every author it would a number of hours I am not at liberty to invest in at the moment. There are a lot of articles by Moonhunter there, as he has plenty of information regarding the subject you speak of. I think a codex may help, but there would be so many subs attached to it it would be daunting. But perhaps some soul will take on the task and begin one.

Part of the problem with a codex of stuff specifically targeted towards new GM's, is nearly every article written has at least something a new GM can use/learn from to make their game better. (Unless you're counting the "beginner guide to GMing style articles which I don't think we have any of here)

The best thing I can think of for advice when it comes to new GM's is get out their and run games. Doesn't matter the setting or rules, just go game!

Much like martial arts, creative writing, and  painting, reading how-to books will be a good way to get a rough feel for the hobby, but until you actually "do it" you'll never really reach any level of proficiency or being to hone your talent for it.

Doesn't matter if the game is a smashing success or abject failure, until you run a few you'll never know just how much fun it can be and what areas you need to work on. (Also most players will cut a new GM lots of slack and do their best to help them where possible.)

Thank you Silveressa. Well as far as I can tell there isn't a GM advice Codex thingy, now all I need to do is hunt for the appropriate articles. Thanks for the links Mourngrymn.

As for starting a roleplay, how would I go about that? I don't have a local group or players so I thought of starting one here?
