Missed another Friday, it appears, but here's one just a little late:

Planet. You know, like Tatooine, Mote Prime, Barsoom. There's all kinds of ways to make crazy planets.

Really, I think that pretty much anything in the "vaguely-habitable celestial bodies" category is probably good enough.

My general rule of thumb is, "If you were running a game, and you were looking for a planet (for whatever reason), the submission should be useful to you." We're not astronomers, here (well, I'm not, anyway).

They are probably the most evil people known to man. Completely and utterly without mercy, existing only to destroy the lives of those arbitrarily chosen to be subjected to their malice. Nazis? Pfeh. Clowns? Who cares? I'm talking about the cheerleader.

Sure, sure, some fiction has portrayed cheerleaders as being "not that bad," or even likeable, but we all know that this is a lie. Or not, really, it's up to you, because that's this week's freetext.

It's still Friday! And on that note, howzabout time for out next freetext. That's a pretty broad one: it can encapsulate chronomancy, time travel, and clocks all in one. And I'm sure that there are other things that can fit in there, too. So go for it!

I posted a Time Zombie.  It might be lame, I'm not sure, yet.  But it does fit the chronomancy theme.  Is there anything to do for Freetext Friday or did I totally misunderstand the prompt?

Also, time travel is silly.  At least, backwards.  Forwards is okay.

To the contrary, time travel backwards opens up all sorts of interesting thoughts and possibilities. To the future, much less so (unless you happen to be a predestination kinda guy).

I dunno. . . paradoxes. . .

Don't get me wrong.

Paradoxes are just as silly as Non-Euclidean architecture and all the spells that would easily make perpetual motion machines.  And of course, being silly doesn't stop any of those things from being awesome.

You may have overlooked something. We have a means of sorting submissions known as "freetext" (which there is a field for when creating a submission, it should be near the bottom with the categories). Freetext Friday is an encouragement to build up underused freetexts. It looks like you didn't put the "Time" freetext on your submission, but you can edit that at any time (and will need to for the bonus xp).

Hope that helps.

As an aside, we used this one many moons ago as well. I remember it fondly and it is fitting that it should return.

I was always a fan of the stable time loop, myself. Extremely hard to pull off, especially at the gaming table. But if you can, expect it to be told in stories for years to come.

Posted a stub titled Keeper of the Hourglass. While it doesn't explicitly say in the rules, I thought this challenge is to create more subs based on "underused' freetexts rather than just to boost up some of the less popular free-texts. Anyway, just want to say I don't particularly care whether I get bonus XP for it or not. This is an idea that poped into my head due to the announcement of time as the theme freetext and I've taken it as far as I can go with it. I don't think I have energy to take it further even with comments so I didn't even bother to put it in Advice Requested.

Not entirely. My intention with Freetext Friday was mostly to try to provide some degree of inspiration. Personally, I think it's easier to come up with something interesting from even a single word than to do it from nothing. I try to go for a variety of freetexts.

Also, I know that I owe a handful of comments; I'll get to it, I promise!

Anyways, it's time for a new freetext. This is another one that I think deserves to be more used than it is, given its popularity, but which is rather sparse around these parts: amazon. Warrior women. Valkyries. Whatever you want to call them.

I've been meaning to participate in this since the beginning but never quite made it, so I decided that I will start doing a freetext soup from previous fridays.

In that vein, I present The Glyph of Tarnos Krae, using pirate, glyph, and time.

Let's do sword this week. Swords-in-stones, Joyeaux, Durandal, light sabers, etc.

Swords are pretty much the ultimate expression of typical fantasy. Go for it.

You know what I'm feeling. Snakes. Sneaky, poisonous, slithery things. I think that snake would be a great freetext. It can do anything from snake dragons through Eden myths and staves that turn into the things.

I know this is mostly to inspire new subs, but I'm going to use the opportunity to update one of my old subs with the snake freetext (call me lazy, if you will, but I prefer "sleep deprived").  Either way, the freetext is getting expanded.  :)  I therefore present The Staff of Seven Snakes, with no expectation that you need to comment on it, Dragonlord.
