This is a thread for random car discussion. I am an avid gamer and writer, but if you were to look at the games next to my Gamestation 360 you will find by far more race car games. Being a pedestrian for 8 months will give a new perspective on owning an automobile. And in American culture, and southern culture, a car is more than just a thing to get you from point a to point b.
Primarily playing Gran Tursimo 5 at this point.
1970 Dodge Charger
Between the Dukes of Hazard and the Fast and Furious franchise, there is no way to ignore the influence of this big block monster. I have seen a few of these in person. There aren't many lingering around. Between the gas crisis in the 70s and the basic premise of a large engine in a low priced coupe meant that a lot of these cars were bought by foolish teenagers and as such ended up as twisted wreckage. Unfortunately, this is what happened to a lot of classic muscle cars, hence the prices some of them can command when they go to auction. I enjoy the Charger, it has ample power and the handling isnt as bad as many other muscle cars. Between basic even primitive suspension, heavy steel bodies, and tire quality, handling isn't exactly crisp.
1970 Plymouth Superbird
To enter stock car races, a car had to be in production. The Superbird was built and sold for the express purpose of having a race legal version of the car. With it's giant tail spoiler and boat like front end, the car is something to look at. And that is a rather Chinese 'something', the lines are smooth but the overall look of the car is putting off. But on the track it is a different beast, at speed it is stable and steady as a rock, and it handles well under hard braking. Coming in at 1700 kg, it is a heavy beast.
