Hello all. I have been hanging around here for the last week or two just soaking up all the awesomeness of this place. I can't believe it took me so long to find the Citadel, but I'm glad I finally did (thanks to Johnn Four's site and the 5 Room Dungeons.)
I played quite a bit in middle and high school, during the late 80s and early 90s. I've always wanted to get back into it but haven't had much luck getting others involved. Of course, my longterm plan is finally bearing fruit: for the past 10 years I have been grooming a tiny gamer, created from a mixture of my own DNA and that of my kickass Lady. Now that this tiny human is the same age I was when I began playing, I plan on introducing her to the wonder that is tabletop RPGs.
Back when I was actively playing, it was mostly with 1st edition AD&D, Star Frontiers, and Traveler: 2300. I also dabbled in Cyberpunk 20.20, Top Secret/SI, and Shadowrun. Now that I have far less time (no more free summers, dammit) I have been searching for a good, quick-to-learn, lean system. I've gone through Savage Worlds, Cortex, and a number of others. I have recently discovered Mini Six from AntiPaladinGames, which looks to be just right for me.
This site seems utterly amazing. I have been browsing various articles, following links between them, and I love the frank and collaborative nature of it all. I've already been inspired with quite a few campaign ideas which I can't wait to try out. I look forward to providing my own submissions (and on the feedback that should help me avoid the usual cliches, a terrible weakness of mine.)
