The Citadel Strategy Guide
« on: October 31, 2010, 08:21:19 AM »
Strolen's Citadel is an immersive MMORPG, with many encounters, plots, twists, and a good deal of head scratching. No environment could be navigated without a strat-guide of some sort.

Dark Lord

Dark_Lord was an encounter from an earlier version of the Citadel. In since updates and patches Dark_Lord has been removed.

Dark_Lord Encounter
Type: Demonic
Level: Beginner

Dark_Lord typically uses one of four moves in encounters: Taunt, Flail, Flame, and Demonic Form

Taunt: Verbal boasts and threats provoke physical attacks from opponents. A Taunted Foe cannot use magical attacks.

Flail: A non-combat move, Flail negates Logic based attacks and prevents flanking maneuvers

Flame: Fire type, low damage. May leave a burn

Demonic Form: Appearance changes, no change to stats

XP and Loot Drops

Low XP granted for defeating Dark_Lords, also before the patches, Dark_Lords had a very high respawn rate so getting away from them was difficult. Items dropped: Thin Skin (junk) Demonic Paraphenalia (x10 can be fused into 1 dram Demonic Essence)

Comments of Ogre Power (or Create Thin Skin as a variation)

Newly converted Barbarian Hordes may not be prepared for the honesty in the initial constructive criticism obtained with the first few submissions.

Comments of Ogre Power

This high level item can be devastating on a low level apprentice. When an apprentice encounters this attack they are often caught off guard at the devastation and don't know how to correctly adapt.

A correct counter to this hit would be to roll with it and absorb the damage. A low level Strolenite can successfully absorb unlimited amounts of hits if they react appropriately. In some cases this attack can exponentially increase the victims own strength and grant them the power of the attack.

A response that will cause even more damage when hit with this is to resist and/or try and deny the attacker. It is not an illusion and pretending it is not happening will only increase the damage. Also, resisting this attack head on will draw more similar Ogre Power attacks upon the unprepared victim causing death that is difficult if not impossible to be resurrected from.

Create Thin Skin

While the Comment of Ogre Power does not directly Create Thin Skin, it almost always reveals it.  Few with incorrect expectations and fail their "Accept Criticism" roll will be inflicted with Thin Skin that has a 12% chance of recovery. Often those that fail their saves and the Thin Skin is revealed only have a 1 or 2 submission length of survival.

Again, if they are able to train themselves to absorb the damage inflicted they may survive the encounter.  Rarely will they find somebody with "Kid Gloves" that will help deflect some of the damage. Most must buck up and take else run from the encounter.

The Brain of Captain Penguin

Category: Quest Item

Description: A pinkish wrinkled sponge soaked in grog. It takes up two inventory slots and is unequipable. Holding it in your Bra of Holding grants a cumulative -2 penalty to SAN Checks for each brain you possess; and grants you the benefits of the Love-Child of the Pink Ranger and Voltron trait.

To redeem the brain for a reward, you must place it in the Citadel's Lost And Found Bin. You will then be rewarded with a link to a random Captain Penguin submission. You will now take 2 to 12 Wisdom drain and be rendered unable to fully appreciate you own genius as imagined by your peers for 24 hours.

T-shirt of the Ancient Gamer

Soaked in pagan Northerner essence and featuring a vaguely blasphemous motif, this dark garment adds a +30% bonus to Picking Up Metal Chicks and Enjoying Metal Music rolls.

It grants complete immunity from Holy attacks, yet works as a high-powered Taunt spell upon any capable of such attacks (making the wearer a highly effective tank).

As a downside, the wearer will be eternally discontent with role-play scenarios that are less than awesome.
