I live in California and with all the fire warnings out here, we get sparklers and fountains. Anything bigger you need a license for. Bleh. We're right next to a very fire resistant ocean, why can't we take a barge out and set fireworks off of it untill it melts and sinks into the ocean? The consequences of the fireworks ban is that today is more about food and friends, so I had a blast hanging out.

Anyway, Happy fourth of july and I hope you blowed some big $h!t up!

Nope.
There's so much dry cheatgrass in Idaho (Which, by the way, is not a native species. The settlers brought the cheatgrass seeds from the east coast, those bastards) that we have the same fireworks ban as you Calis.

It does make for a great show. However, you have to be far enough away from land that left over pyrotechnic shells do not hit land, nor pollute your shallow waters.  Several communities have cancelled there fireworks because of the wet land fires and environmental issues from from toxic pyrotechnic shell casings.  

San Francisco on the other hand has one of the top 10 firework displays in the US every year.  Crissy field is very cool.  

Great America, a large theme park in these parts, has a show to rival it.  

It is a good area of the world to like fireworks.

We all have to thank the spirit of Francis Scott Key who wrote the poem that became the national anthem.  Without that poem, which was frequently written on "common house walls" and an old English drinking song that nobody could remember words to, we would not have such a catchy national anthem, nor fireworks every 4th of July.

It rained on the 5th when we do ours (conflicts with other comunities who also do fireworks and half of the ppl who live on our lake live somewhere else so they get two) so I thought I wouldn't get them this year but luckly the rain stopped so we did. Not to mention I am now a year older!! Fireworks AND prezzies!!
