One of the ladies popped a bottle of champagne, the cork rebounding from the ceiling, hitting the fat man in the head, to the amusement of the girls, who knelt down giggling, spilling half the bottle of champagne in the process. One by one the girls followed Steel down a hatch no different from the others, then the fat man who had trouble getting through.

A few sharp elbows secured Riv a place in the dropship, and the psychopath wastelander Burning Man climbed down the solid rungs.

"Push the button!", Steel barked and Riv instinctively pushed a large steel button close to the inner hatch. There was a hydraulic hiss, then two steel plates secured the hole Riv had come through. There was a heavy thud as crew members closed the corridor hatch far above.

The dropship was like a cylinder inside, a shaft with seats in circles down the walls, and as Riv dangled his feet in front of the face of the person below he felt them swatted aside. "Put your feet in the proper position, jerk!", an annoyed man said. The dropship had truly been built like a spear, a divine spear pointed down on the unsuspecting wastelanders below.

There was room for a total of twenty people inside, and looking down Riv noticed the girls buckling in, their tits uncomfortably squeezed by belts and metal torso guard.

"Rejoice, friends!", Steel said. "Rejoice, for tonight we, warriors of Atlantis and Venice, will spear-head the invasion of Sanctum!"

No one replied. Utter silence.

Then, the obese man, fat protruding from under the belt and metal guard, confusedly stuttered: "But... Milord... Sanctum... Sanctum is the abode of the Witch King... It... It is..."

He was cut short by Steel.

"Yes, yes, we have all heard of the Witch King and his Undead Legion within Sanctum. I know for a fact that they are just advanced wastelanders, and TONIGHT WE AWAKEN! TONIGHT WE BUTCHER HIS MEN AND MURDER HIS FAMILY!"

The girls cheered stupidly, passing the bottle from one to another.

Then there was a loud metal click, and Riv felt weightless, like he was floating in the air. He looked down and noticed Steel pushing a command console. "Initiate operation Thor!", he barked to the console.

***************************''

Curie and Mason thought they saw Kiph duck into a dropship, the hatch being closed above him, just like Riv but a few seconds earlier. Mason, scant steps behind Curie, cursed his luck as he climbed down into the metal shaft of the dropship. He had been on the heels of Riv, but Riv had taken the last seat.

The ship was of an interesting design. Twenty crew members could be fitted into the ship, and with the push of a button the chairs could be pivoted around, to the outside, where they could either chute out or jump down to the ground. It was a shock assault ship, designed to fit through narrow openings in ceilings and to unload as many soldiers as possible in a really short time.

"Where are we landing?", a guest said.

"Master Steel wants it to be a surprise", another replied.

Then there was a click, and Curie and Mason felt like feathers on the wind, absolutely weightless.

Curie was more than disturbedby the tight quarters and two dozen perspirating strangers pressed uncomfortably together, their aura of pathogens almost visible; the one that was no stranger was Wesknife - a none too comforting acquaintance for sure.

It was a pity that they were not in Steel's ship at this time, but then, if the planned sabotage was successful, it would be easier to return.

She observed the ship's course, and was prepared to feed it a few choice bits of data if it happened to stray too far from Steel.

Riv lived for primal pleasures - the joy of food, fire and fun.  This sensation was outside his experience, but it too filled him with joy.  Uncaring about the others, he whooped and hollered as the dropship made its plunge.

Riv watched the three men on his level, one on his right, one on his left and one about two meters in front of him. Their faces were pale, a sheen of sweat coldly reflecting green ambient light. No one talked anymore, the mention of Sanctum having drained all cheer from them, sobering them up quicker than he thought possible.

******************

"ATLANTIS!", the party goers inside the dropship screamed, time and time again, then "VENICE!", Mason picking up the habit. The atmosphere within was ecstatic. "I AM GONNA @!#$ THEIR WOMEN BRUTALLY, LIKE AN ANIMAL!", a thin, bald man with an venetian mask screamed, and the other men inside replied with a resounding "FOR VENICE!".

"And I am gonna kick their men in their loins, punishment for your sins!", one of the women added dryly, to the general amusement of the females within.

Curie could sense it in them, the smell of rut on the men and carefully veiled resent on their women. The men would rape, but the women would went their hate in a far more harmful manner. Curie did not envy the helpless villagers below.

******************

There was a loud crack, like a gunshot only much louder, then the dropships shook, then another crack, and another, and another, until the dropships vibrated like the tail of rattlesnake and all one could do was to hold the metal guard with both hands and pray for survival.

Curie felt the wireless traffic of three dropships go stone cold, all the while feeding instructions to their own dropship, telling it to stick close to that of Steel.

*******************

Gravity really kicked in when the dropship thrusters suddenly ignited, sending their guts and head down for ten seconds, until the dropships landed with the tact of a drunk wastelander.

Suddenly the vertical sections began to revolve, and Riv quickly found himself outside, suspended in his seat some ten meters above ground. Then the column of seats began tilting down, like a drawbridge, until it stopped and Riv was suspended two meters above ground, facing the dirt below.

"GRAB THE CHESTGUARD! UNBUCKLE!", Steel bellowed, and then there was a loud click as everyone was released down to the ground.

"ATLANTIS!", Steel screamed. Somewhere far to the right several voices replied, "VENICE!".

********************

Looking around, Mason noted that they had landed inside some sort of hangar. Above the ceiling had been blown wide open, a fifteen meter wide hole revealing the night sky. Somewhere up there the Truth of Steel circled.

The acrid smell of burnt plastic and rubber filled the air, the smoke stinging their eyes. There was no one around, except the carnival-goers.

Gathering their Atlantean Harvester Rods, the crowd scattered through the empty hangar.

"Now, where are their women?", the bald man said.

*********************

Steel pointed at a hole in the ground.

"Down there, we go down there!", he said and then jumped into the crater in the ground. At its edges the grass burnt, inside red emergency lighting was flashing.

Peeking down, Riv saw the crater had blown open an entryway into a concrete walled corridor bathed in red light.

Curie stayed behind, watching the "celebrants" run off towards what they considered entertainment, frustrated at the limited scope of her options. If she had something akin the Truth of Steel, she'd play a different song on that instrument, indeed.

Could Wesknife take Steel's place? If so, what then? The likely negative repercussions of such a course exceeded the possible gain manifold. First thngs first, she decided, and strolled out of the craft towards Steel's, the Harvester rod ready. If the pilot was inside, he'd receive a nice stun shot, if not, even better. Then, her work of ruin could begin.

She had felt Steel's dropship land somewhere in front of her, and based upon this feeling Curie headed towards the hangar doors. Some carnival goers had already begun pushing one aside, and the ecstatic people began pouring out of the building.

On the yard in front of the building she spotted a woman, alone, lying on her hips, supporting her torso with her left hand.

"Someone help me!", she cried in a broken wastelander accent.

"Sure, we'll help you!", the bald man cried back, and with a sadistic gleam to his eyes he half ran towards her.

There was something to the woman, Curie thought.

Riv shrugged and followed steel into the crater, carefully watching for threats and assessing what guards Steel had brought with him into the fray.

Curie could sense packets of encrypted wireless traffic to and fro the woman on the ground. The encryption was hard, Curie had serious doubt that she could crack it even had she had an entire hour, but the protocol was military, of that Sachmeth was sure and so it told 13. That could only mean a couple of things; Either, the woman had serious heavy duty military grade implants, meaning she was a cyborg, or she was a fully fledged military fleshbot, a killing machine in its own right. Either way she was dangerous.

Curie knew she could confuse the woman with her superior networking and hacking abilities, but the confusion would last for a minute at best, a few seconds or not at all at worst.

"I am gonna save you from virginity!", the bald man said, pulling his pants down as he ran across the yard, several other men in tow.

*********************

Riv gaped when he saw another dropship which had been torn to bits, bodies lying scattered everywhere. Steel seemed not to mind and when he passed the body of an elderly man who had lost his mask, he dryly commented "That is councilor Mechanath... Such a shame... Oh well, now he can't oppose the armament bill I suppose".

*********************

Walking down the corridor, Riv felt sweat trickle under his heavy breastplate. Still, the cumbersome panzer had saved his life before, and he was not about to dispose of protection in this foreboding place.

In front of him Steel was using the hydraulics enhanced muscle of his powered armor to force a blast door open. His two personal guards stood behind him, with their backs to Riv, one wielding an automated shotgun, the other holding an assault rifle. Beside the two guards, Riv and Steel, none of the guests had entered the corridor. When he had last seen them, Riv had noticed terror in their eyes and how they looked in every direction, as if seeking a place to hide.

Mason looked around, and something didn't feel right. As the other party goers pushed open the hangar doors, he held back, watching and listening carefully. The faint sounds of carnage reached him through the broken roof. He could see Curie intent, clearly concentrating.

He broke the injector away from his delicate mask, throwing the gilded porcelain on the floor casually. His eyes were still concealed by a black silk band, two intent slits, peering in the darkness.

Go with the flow, he told himself.

Apparently these stun sticks are not going to cut it,  thought Riv.  It began to make sense to him - this was no casual outing, but there was a plan here.
The stun sticks were to cause false security, false courage.

The guests, one and all, were cannon fodder. A human smokescreen while Steel did his work here.

So Riv, was going to do his work as well.  As soon as one of the guards dropped, he would have his chance.

Curie shrugged, seeing the rabid celebrants charging towards what could have as well been a rabid Chinese cyber-panda, like those she saw in the Last War footage.
While she was indifferent to the fate of Steel's guests, the bot, or whatever it was, could be sand in the gears of her plan. So, she hid and watched the crowd advance.

Mason followed at the rear of the crowd as they ran towards the hapless wastelander woman. Then the screaming began, and soon waves of heat washed against him and the people in front of him ignited like kerosene drenched torches, the smell of burnt hair and flesh following short thereafter.

[ooc]I need a dodge skill check from Mason. 1d100 against base 50 dodge + 30 (in the rear of the crowd) = 1d100 against 80[/ooc]

************************

Curie hid behind the corner of the hangar and watched the crowd advance. The eager bald man had his pants down on his thighs and his manhood ready as he greedily reached his hands and yanked her hair back. Surprise was evident on his face as her head did not budge, and she reached out with her right hand towards him. 13 was uncertain what happened next, but suddenly flames washed forward, greedily devouring the foremost of the crowd before engulfing those in the aft one by one. She saw Mason dive to the side, then she had to pull her face back to avoid having it burnt off.

************************

Steel forced the door open, a maneuver that left a noticeable grip mark in the steel, and entered the dusty hall beyond. The walls were white, with a black marble floor, and there were some elevators there; six of them, three on one wall, three on the opposite. On the other end of the room a glass wall separated the hall from a huge office with equally huge, broken, windows revealing a stunning nighttime vista. An overturned table and several piled chairs were in the office, while two broken busts of once important men decorated the hall and elevator entrances.

Steel walked with determination towards the elevators. Looking back he seemed to notice Riv for the first time.

"What? Why are you here and not cringing out there with the rest of these pathetic creatures?"

Quite obviously, the denizens of that place were no common wastelanders bereft of the basic necessities of civilization. Curie crossed off the dead invaders, making a mental note about which dropship they likely came from, then checked for the presence of the 'woman'. Curie would not mind getting in contact with its makers, allies or whatever they were, but they'd likely shoot on sight.

Thus, she waited whether the air was clear, and rushed towards Steel's ride.

Riv grinned, bringing the light of chaos into his eyes, "For one, I'm not a pathetic creature - poorly equipped perhaps, but not a weakling.  Second, there has been nothing much so far, and the party seems far from over."

"Seriously, can one of you lend me something better then this piece of s**t?" Riv said, indicating the weapon he had been issued. "I'd likely be of more help."

Riv knew he was playing with fire here, but then, it was what he enjoyed the most..
