Spring Quest Brainstorming
« on: April 10, 2009, 12:49:56 PM »
Opening a new thread for the next Quest. All suggestions are welcome, and I would like to be able to put up a voting poll by April the 18th, and have the quest officially begin by April the 24th. This might seem a bit rushed, but I think the Citadel really benefits from the Quests, and seeing as I am the new Quest Coordinator I'd like to get the ball rolling.

Here are some ideas bouncing around in my head:

Superheroes
Airships
Plants and Poisons
Insects
Fertility festivals
Expanding off of existing franchises such as Star Trek, Battletech, or similar sci-fi or fantasy settings.
Manfred's Loser Fantasy Challenge for a hard one
Marsupials
tattoos and magic

STAR TREK  (Any generation. The movie will be comming out!)

5 in 1 without all the random and wierd rules.  Just grab 5 things and put them together.

Mercenaries. A freetext that used to be loved, but recently, not so.

Oceans is fun

Air (floating and flying things and places).

I like the 5 in 1 thing that Moon said, and the Ocean thing.

Some vague ideas of my own

Secret Soceties, *Monsters* that are in fact far more then that, *fantasy races* turned on their head.

My votes would be for Air/Airships, or Tattoos.

And I want to add a category: Shadows/Shadow Magic.

I want to pitch in my support for Cheka's secret societies. Considering how integral those are to most plots, we don't seem to have a great many on the site.

Franchises are a good one. Secret Societies could be interesting as well.

The last 5in1 tripped mainly on the random requirement: sometimes those fives were really too odd to work with. I'd like to keep one rule, that wasn't weird at all: "They can't be all yours." As long as that is kept, I think it is viable.
Do not correct me, I know I am wrong.

Franchises
Tattoos and Magic
Secret Societies
5in1 modified
shadows/shadowmagic
Oceans
Air/Sky

This looks like a pretty good list.

I think we could get some interesting submissions from any of these

 What was manfred's loser fantasy?

"Secret Societies" & "Oceans" are my top picks.

Or Secret "Oceans", or "Ocean Societies."

Or "Ocean Secrets."

I don't know about five in one, the previous quest of that genre didnt generate much interest beyond initial YEAH AWESOME.

To go momentarily off topic, IMO, it was the rules and restrictions of the last 5 in 1 rather than grabbing 5 submissions that you thought would work together (perhaps ones not yours) that was the issue for most people.

We now return to the thread on track.

Adding after reading the rest of the posts

And then noticing manfred replied, d'oh.

I would like to include a no to the loser fantasy.  It is really, really, really hard to do.   Sounds like a good idea, but really is not easy or fun to do.

A skeleton walks into a bar and ask the Bartender: “Do you serve skeletons here?”

Times being what they are the wily Bartender replies: “sure, we serve anyone.”

The skeleton hands the man a silver and says: “Fine, I’ll have a pitcher of beer…and a mop”

If there are no further comments, I will post this for voting Thursday evening, since I am going to be occupied friday evening and the better part of the weekend. For those interested, it's my wife's model horse show, Model Horses Anonymous II.
