A Traitor Weapon
« on: March 14, 2009, 06:54:46 PM »
I'm thinking of developing an idea seed of mine, a magical weapon which the third time it is used will turn on it's owner. It was made to get revenge on a warlord. At the same time as wounding it's owner magically it also wounds the one it is meant to harm. Is this worth creating as a submission? Any ideas? A magical sword sounds so cliche.

Maybe a whip? Not used as often (unless by a femme fatale in a video game) and could be plausibly explained as to why it hits you as well as the opponent, at least for the first couple times.

A whip... I just had the horrible image of someone in the process of whipping, with the third cruel stroke accidentally taking out their own eye - or of somebody else.

Maybe it targets the person in authority, that ordered the whip to be used? You could get some nasty effects here.

I think Manfred is on to something here Cheka. Go with the whip!

A skeleton walks into a bar and ask the Bartender: “Do you serve skeletons here?”

Times being what they are the wily Bartender replies: “sure, we serve anyone.”

The skeleton hands the man a silver and says: “Fine, I’ll have a pitcher of beer…and a mop”

"The bad thing about magical whips is, that they can prolong themselves, often on an unconscious mental command, and thus surprise their wielder, who may injure himself or others. It appears that the innermost nature of whips, tools made of cruelty alone, is harder to direct and lashes freely against anyone it can harm."
