An ambitious undertaking.
« on: February 17, 2009, 04:46:19 AM »
An idea has entered my mind and will not leave, an idea to create a society based upon the citadel,

"The Citadel Scribes"

Based upon those of us who use this site, (so as of course none of you mind), i don't know wether this has been attempted before, but i am determined.

It will basically be a guild of writers, i would like the input of those greatest on this site; Strolen (of course), Scrasamax, Ancient Gamer, Murometz, Manfred, Pieh, and other names of some renown.

Well what do you think?, is it possible to pull off?

All advice is welcome(please no flaming).

*inserts flame* :)

What kind of society will it be exactly? Cultured pirates, well-read bandits, or perhaps smugglers big into writing?

More importantly, will it be a 30?
Do not correct me, I know I am wrong.

Please elaborate upon your idea.

Are you talking shared world writing, an informal 'club' of writers venting steam and bemoaning their troubles to each other, an attempt to formalize a writing force that could terrorize publishing houses, or something else?
"I grab the sword!"
"Mmkay, you're dead."
"What!?"
"You just grabbed the sword of the god you were just personally responsible for banishing from the world for the next ten thousand years. You just got zapped by around a billion volts of Angry Divine Power. You're dead."

Is this a real society of far flung writers battling at their computers or a submission?

This could be fun. I think if we make it a scroll where the main text of the scroll is a write-up of the guild and it's housing then we can add ourselves as it's members plus information on the how and why we joined then include details of our frequented areas.. How does that sound? I would love to use Strolen's Citadel in a game.

I really like the idea of being some bizarre sagely god with the power to craft items with a pen and distribute them amongst various fantastic worlds. That's what we are, right?

A scroll with a writeup might be a better idea actually yes, it is a description of the citadel and it's many and varied inhabitants.

(thinking on scroll)

Only the 30 Greatest

I'm not sure it would be possible to narrow it down to just 30 without leaving out some of the great ones. (also how does one measure greatness, the Amount of quality subs, The quality of subs done so far? Or just the quality of comments?

I like the scroll concept personally, it sounds neater and allows more people to provide input to make the project more unique and appealing as a whole.

I am intrigued. But to be honest, I don't quite get what the exact idea/concept is/entails. What exactly are we going for here?

Actually, it might be fun to write up guild of mythical writers based upon the great Strolenati of the Citadel, their powers fantastic yet based upon the real people - so might Ancient Gamer, being huge and Norwegian, evolve into a warrior sage, whilst Scrasamax might have horsie-related powers. Etc.
