Longest running campign you've ever had

What's yours? Indulge my curiosity! For myself, it's been a four year long Barbaric romp. After all that time, he's level 18, Lord of a small town, walks softly and carries a bear and has the mental agility of a teaspoon. He's also been known to hit with a hammer of thunderbolts first, and ask questions while it hits. DMing him has been a blast.

I link all of my campaigns now, and share them as part of the Imersive Game World.  In a sense, all of the Midian campaigns (or at least the ones I and several other GM's run) are all part of the same interlinked super-campaign.  The game has been running steadily since 2001.  In fact, I have the current crop of pc's back in the same village where I started playtesting.

I have a tie between running a Fantasy Campaign on Arth and a Bay Area Guardians Champions Campaign which are both tied at seven and a half years.  The Champions group kept reincarnating itself into different campaign for nearly 10 years before that troupe split to the winds.

Since then, I have been specializing in Dramatic Campaigns, campaigns with very defined goals.. begining and endings.  My favorite was Kung Fu Action Theatre!  which chronicled the adventures of four Kung Fu Heroes in San Francisco as they defeated the Evil Machinations of the Red Jade Demon (and minion) and DuBuois, followed by the Nippon! campaign of The Ronin's Demon.

The longest single quest campaign lasted for four years, while the longest link of campaigns lasted for seven years. The current campaign is new, but is linked to the old ones in ways the players have yet to discover. All in all the generational campaigns have lasted since first days of the millennium.

I also run a post apoc campaign (the same as in the forum game Bleak Wood) which has run since '96. All in all we play WAY less Bleak Wood than we play Coldforged, so it really doesn't count. At the moment it has been two years since we last played in my post apoc setting.

Now the longest campaign i have ever run has lasted me for 1,1/2 years, and that was the WFRP, my friend was GM'ing and i had a captain, with his own manor and estate, the campaign did drag on for a bit however.

How about a Ratio of Campaigning?  Divide the number of years since a game was released by the longevity of a campaign.  At least two Midian campaigns qualify for a full 1.00 score, as they have been ongoing since the Beta testing.

My Bushido game was .9
Figured from release date to end of campaign. If we figured it from when the games were released... that was 1982 ish... so 27 years oyyyy.

And those numbers are really only valid if you weren't the game designer.

Only one of those games involved me.  There's one in Chicago that's been steady since Beta involving people I've never even met.

The longest running campaign I've ever participated in started in the summer of 1999.

Most of the characters are since retired
The original DM is actually deceased
I took over and my only player is my wife.

We were dating when this game started.

She's had 3 characters in 9 years, two of them in this campaign.
