Something tells me Strolen was a Wheel of Time fan. I never read it, but it sounds like he bought it while finishing the last book in the series. Hmmmmm...

I actually stopped at the fourth or fifth....maybe sixth...but I was absolutely going to buy are read them all when he finally finished the d**n things. There were issues with a couple of the books I have heard but there is no denying that it was an AWESOME epic regardless..

aaaahhhh hellll..................

Hopefully he had notes and their is somebody that can put them together and actually finish them in two more books....eventually.

I think some fan's cursed finally got him. It originally looked that the series was going to be 10 books. However you can tell in the middle of book 8 that things changed. That must of been the point he decided to make it open ended. Bastard. Now it will never be truly done.

He was a great writer. I am sorry he is gone.

Though he is still a bastard for not finishing the books when he could.

Actually, he was ORIGINALLY going to make it a trilogy. Then he didn't. Now I'm sad...(Because whether or not Strolen is a fan of WoT, I am.)

That is....depressing. Now I'll never know the epic ends. Maybe there's a warning in that. Don't write a wildly popular story that you can't complete...

I was an avid reader and at the second to last book released. I was also echoing EVERY thought Strolen verbalized here. I was informed that Jordan knew he was dying, as what he died of was a slower killer.  :(  He was diagnosed with primary amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy, (cardiac amyloidosis) for which they estimated four years.

But that means that as I understand it, he passed his understandings notes and plans on to someone competent to finish it. The epic will be finished (Stupid Conan The Barbarian books, taking away from the story that was worth telling!) with the Twelfth (odd word) and final book- A Memory of Light, a working title at best.

See the wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Jordan) post for a quick overview.

My heart sank when I found out. His talent will be sorely missed.

Is Eric Flint the one who will complete what Robert Jordon begun?

The Wheel of Time written by Larry Flynt? Well for one thing there would be alot more pictures, and a lot less of that words business.

If you took a guess, who you say would be the most likely candidate to finish the WOT saga?

I couldn't dare make a guess as to the most likely candidate, but as for who I'd like to see, it'd probably be David Weber, David Drake, or Eric Flint. Or John Ringo, but that might be a bit too off the wall for most people.

Ah. Would his style be that dramatic a departure from that of Robert Jordan?

I actualy think it's his wife, the editor of his books and a great inspiration, Especially for the female chapters, is the one to finish it.
When asked in an intervju, Jordan said that he had been thinking of the ending for 20 years.

A shame...
Yet some there be that by due steps aspire
To lay their hands on that Golden key
That ope's the Palace of Eternity:
To such my errand is, and but for such,
I would not soil these pure Ambrosial weeds,
With the rank vapours of this Sin-worn mould.
