Search vs. Go to Sub

Search (top menu bar)

Is on the top of the page. It now goes directly to the Advanced Search Page. When I did this it took away the ability to go directly to a post and I very much liked that feature.

Go to Sub (right menu)

This does what the normal search box used to do. If you put in an exact title or the submission ID, it will take you directly to it. Otherwise it will go to another page that will allow you to use that term to do an Advanced search.

I will combine these at some point, but it will be after StrolenCon because it will require a whole rewrite on how I do those pages. So please bear with the little extra convenience for now.

I see no real reason to combine the two. They both work fine, and I always seem to go to the proper one due to placement, even though I've had no clue that one did a search and the other went straight to the sub.

I would just find it easier to have a single search box at the top that you can put an ID#, Exact Title, or a search term and it be able to bring you directly to a submission or send you correctly to the search page.

I should allow the top search to accept a number anyway so at least it will find it if you accidentally put it up there.

I can see the benefits of that. How about you make one search function, and have both locations remain and call that same search function? I find myself using both, and I rather like it.
