Here are some examples of Equipment in Deadspace

Powered Combat Suit (Power Suit): This is a suit of armor powered with a built in trinomium crystal pack. It can be modified with necrobits. Comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, abilities, and costs.

Necrobits: Small packages of data and comands for a Power Suit that are plugged into the Suit's surface. They contain various commands to empower the Suit. The abilities they impart are various.

Power Mask: A mask/helmet addition for the Power Suit. Comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, abilities, and costs. Most contain some sort of night-vision lenses and macrobinoculars. All have a 3-D HUD display that can provide the wearer with information uploaded into the Power Suit's computer.

Maser Shield Projecter: A stubby wand that, when activated, activates a glowing maser field that can reflect maser energy. However, it has no effect on solid projectiles.

Most science fictiony book I read was A Mote in God's eye. Loved it, but haven't read much.

You got a lot of ideas floating around in here and it is at least fun to go through them all even though I am space stupid.
