David Tennent is Lord Daidbon
The Lord Daidbon, once known as the young Lord Daidbon (he has aged into his position now), is of a grand noble household, holding a position in the West Kingdom. He is a great man, who will be remembered fondly by scholars and students of history and bards alike. In his life he has been a leader, a warrior, a scholar, and a poet. He is the King's First. Few men can claim so much done so well.
As a new lord - barely a man - he was thrust into a key position of a terrible civil war and a threat from over the sea via longboats. He has helped guide the new Kings through the the great wars and great treacheries. He is the King's First - his first advisor and his first defender. Yet his services have been beyond the politic. He has produced sonnets, plays, and stories. He has translated several great tomes. He has dealt with magics beyond the mortal ken, danced with fairy queens and dueled stagged knights. He has done things that only the great heroes of bards tales have done. Yet. He has been a normal man - with love of a wife, children, respect of his peers, and the work of the days. He has lost almost as much as he gained, because he refused to lose the moral high ground. He has lost his loves, his children (from his first wife), his position (though that has been replaced), his family lands (blighted by the Ebon One), and his home. No man has achieved so much and lost so much.
In terms of personality, the Lord is many things: a bundle of energy, a contradiction at court - bound by the traditional, yet pushing for reform, while set in his course - he knows a poet's range of feeling, while prone to wimsy, known for deep wisdom. In short, while most men tend towards the middle, Lord Daidbon is a man of extreme. He reaches the highest highs of nobility and honor - holding the highest moral path despite great personal pain. Yet at times, he dwells in the dark despair over the loss of family or friends or the presence of war and famine - evils he can not fix.
While the King of The Lands has become a great figure on the stage of world, the Lord Daidbon is the protagonist of the piece.
