I will be going to Morocco for six days. If I don't start posting again after that, it means that some criminal has stolen my computer.-- Cheka

Triumph of the Dungeon Master!

Ah, how I have come to love that sense of accomplishment and victory that I get when I pull the wool over the eyes of a clever player character. What DM Triumphs have you had?

Some of mine:
1. Finally killing an incredibly powerful, lucky, annoying player's character.
2. Finally achieving a TPK (Total Party Kill)
3. Finally achieving a TPK using only traps
4. Finally working out how to make it so that d**n wizard doesn't steal the spotlight all the d**n time.

A happily ever after with my female shepherd and Liara is all I'm after, really!

We were discussing Mass Effect 3's ending, and it was a reference to Commander Shepherd obviously, but when taken of context...

Shadoweagle: This one speaks truth. They of the Citadel be not unlike the ebb and flow of the tide. for whence our duties lie low and the time is right, we engulf the site like the unforgiving sea, until life draws us back into the ocean of responsibility from whence we came.
Shadoweagle: Some drown or lose their way, in that ocean, and return to us not. Yet it comes to be that oftentimes the tide pulls new denizens to our shore, bringing with them tales and legends as yet unheard. And even those lost for many a year to the ocean are not always forgotten. They lurk in our memories and in the footprints they have left in the sand.
Shadoweagle: And so those of us who stay, wait patiently along the shore, sharing tales among ourselves as we wander, and hope that one day, we will see footprints, freshly marked in the sand, yet oh so familiar. And we shall welcome our once-lost kin back to our shore and ask them to tell us new tales which they learned whilst lost so long.
Shadoweagle: Thus the cycle continues. Thus, Strolen's Citadel is, and ever shall be.

I just love the imagery of 6 ears, probably from old corpses, that have been raised by a necromancer. What does one do with 6 freshly raised ears? Not to be confused with braised ears, certainly. Those are easier to find a use for.

This is just one reason why I love being here:
Quote
Dozus: That's weird. Why you be disappearin', CM?
Chaosmark: You mean aside from the fact that I was pulling an all-nighter and decided I need sleep?
Dozus: Sleep is disallowed.
Chaosmark: That sorta what I've been thinking, with this d**ned project at work.
MysticMoon: You really didn't read the contract thoroughly, did you?
Dozus: It's hard to read when it's all written in blood.
MysticMoon: Bah! That just means you haven't had enough practice
MysticMoon: Back in my day, we had to read and understand 10 complex contracts written in our own blood at a time, no chance to feel woozy from the bloodloss
MysticMoon: And we like it
Chaosmark: Yeah yeah yeah, showoff.
MysticMoon: :P
Dozus: I usually use *other* people's blood.
MysticMoon: Hmm, clever thinking. That way they pay the price if you ever decide to go against it?
Dozus: It's just more convenient. I carry a supply of strangers' blood at all times for just such an instance.
MysticMoon: Sounds like a good habit to get into. I nearly passed out once because I'd skipped breakfast and unexpectedly had to write out a 20 page document without messing up a single sigil
MysticMoon: Nearly opened up a portal to the Tenth Abyss
MysticMoon: There were tentacles and claws everywhere for about 3 minutes
MysticMoon: Had plenty of blood available after that, but...
Dozus: Heh heh, I think we've all been there. :)
Chaosmark: *something something* Cthulhu reference *something* Dark gods *something something something* Witty punchline.

I can.

Probably the fact that forum games take so fricken' long?

You wait and wait for this or that notorious delaying poster, like CaptainPenguin back in the day, and in the end they find your skeleton, covered in dust and cobwebs, hands still on the keyboard... waiting.

You may have missed the part where sweet coppa, guanciale, or your favored crumbled sausage can be added if that's just too much vegetable for you :P

And I just now noticed Val's quote, which is funny lol
