In as lighthearted a theme as I can muster, how disturbing can things on the Citadel be?

In one of my most recent submissions, http://strolen.com/viewing/Unummodo, I introduced a beetle that uses people as puppets. By popular request, I wrote a lifeform submission (hidden work-in-progress) about these beetles. It turns out that these beetles are horrible, nightmarish monsters that wear people's faces and eyes and poison everyone around them with organ-liquefying parasites. I have finished the sub, but at second thought I hesitate to post it because it is disturbing.

In general, how do Strolenites feel about detailed submissions concerning disturbing monsters, practices, and topics?

The only sub that has been too much for me to read has been the torture one. I quickly realized it wasn't for me and moved on; I would do the same for any others and wouldn't expect authors to hold back for my delicate sensibilities.

Yeah for real... and just a thought. I would put in an italicized remark right at the beginning saying that it is a mature sub and to be read at your own risk. Or something like that. I put that on one of my subs once and it actually got a good number of replies.

I was going to add a sub to the torture scroll after reading this thread, but wikipedia made me realise that the scroll is rather tame when compared to what happens for real.  I got very sad for a while.

@Silver: Aaaaaaaah!  The fetus is a pretty nice touch.  I've never seen that before.

@Dark: AAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!  Cheer up, Dark.  It's gotten a lot better since the days of sawing or slow slicing.  Compared to history, the stuff we think up and read in literature is pretty tame, probably because it's just disgusting at a certain point and no longer entertaining.  Same reason why fantasy settings don't include sexual violence or child endangerment.  You can tentatively even add sexism, racism, and slavery to that list.  Most people just don't have fun reading about that stuff, even if that's the way it was.
