PHP5 Upgrade Today (sometime)

Just a note to let you know (read: warn you) that I will be upgrading the server to PHP5 at some point today. Doing a little reading so I don't totally screw it up and making some backups just in case.

I will wait until there are as few people on the board as possible and I will give shoutbox warnings, but in case this PHP5 breaks more than I think it will, the site may be down for the evening at the longest. If all else fails I will rollback to the original and get it back up if everything falls apart. No data will be touched so we won't lose anything....we shouldn't lose anything.

Now, when I try to upgrade to MySQL 5...now THAT may break something, but I am in no hurry for that right now.

Upgraded to PHP5.2.0 is complete and everything seems to be working.

Going to install eAccelerator for a little speed and double check a few config files but the tough part is over.

Had something that I can't shake so going to recomplie one more time to see if I can fix the issue.

OK, that sucked ass and I apologize. A simple recompiling is never a simple recompile. I must always remember that.

Now, if I can do what I wanted to do in the first place it might all be worth it.

I am very sorry for booting you off the site for what seemed like an eternity to me. I wanted to go to bed early tonight after the long road trip too!

Upgrade was rolled back to the original configuration because I got sick of messing with it. I think I did an oops at some point. I am going to have to try it all again tomorrow at some point and will give warning once again.

eAccelerator is installed for a nice cache system - for faster page loads

hmmmm. Next I will have to look at MySQL 5.+
