Planetary Scan
« on: September 04, 2006, 08:59:54 PM »
The following thread is going to be a reference site for a potential series of sci-fi postings on various worlds.

I plan to include:
The Ford Scale - a 1-8 rating of a planets tectonic and geologic activity. a planet that has a 1 is essentially a dead world, akin to the moon, while an 8 is so active that parts of its surface could be oceans of semi-radioactive lava.

The Reiche Scale - Similar to the Ford Scale, the Reiche scale measures atmospheric turbulence and violence. Planets without atmospheres score a default 1, Earth has a fairly low 3, and an 8 indicates a gas giant or a planet with endless superstorms that never abait.

The Planetary Assessment
The assessment covers the planet's population, its basic form of government and activity in interworld politics, and its power in terms of space traffic, industrial capability and basic natural resources
