Well, after seeing the recomendation to Wulfhere to visit the forum, I decided to follow suit.

I'm also a pretty dingey gamer who figured someone would pry my 1st ed DMG from my cold, dead hands.

I am not a writer by profession but one of the books I've read on the subject recommended practice - practice practice.  I know I'm not up to the standards set by other members, both in quality and verbosity, but I figure that the quality will come with time

I am happy with the reception my posts have recieved (and looking at some of the responses in the past, my Demons got a pretty easy treatment...)

Feel welcome, valadaar! We do like your ideas, and that's what counts, your writing, as said, isn't bad either.

As for Demons, they have the annoying tendency to get cliche, but you did fairly well even in this genre. So... we definitively look forward to more of your posts!

Don't criticize yourself.  Your demons aren't bad.  Some of my favorite ideas have "failed to survive contact with the enemy", as well.  When I looked at your fear demon (That one was yours, wasn't it?), my thought was "how could I make that work in an adventure?"  The only details that I would have changed would be to add some way that he can be controlled by a less overwhelming summoner (e.g.: "The Dread Grimore of Talos contains a ritual by which the demon can be bound to service...") and a way that the adventurers can interact with that knowledge ("but it neglects to mention that the ritual will fail if the summoner washes the sacrifical blood from his hands").  My players tend to be Verrrry careful and investigative (often to a fault) and would probably try to find a way to avoid fighting the beast (Playing Call of Cthulhu will do that to you).

You know, my first submission into the site was so cliche and boring that it is currently sitting in a 'deleted submissions' section

The fact my earliest one was so bad made me strive to think of newer and more original ideas - now i've got my own style! Now, you've only just started here, and your ideas already have much potential! You'll be fine

The first submission topic comes up a bit to all our amusements. We all have our stories about our first submissions.   Might have to use that somehow to showcase that a little bit. My first submissions sucked (probably move that to the present tense too). Only reason they aren't deleted is that I feel a bit of nostalgia because they are what started the entire site. So they remain, much to my embarassment. Nobody should have to worry about

We are our worst critic... especially if someone questions an idea of ours we take it to the extreme. Don't worry your starting ideas so far are good. Keep it up, put more out and you will develop skill and it will show in your work.
