What is the best Science-Fiction series ever?

Buck Rogers et al must forgive me, but I left out a rather huge amount of ancient and unimportant sci-fi series. Also sorry to Futurama, X-Files and so forth. This is what you get to choose from.

If you have some other favourite show, SeaQuest DSV or whatever, post it in a comment.

Additionally I wondered if I should post the numerous Alien movies as a series, but decided not to :p

Well, of all those listed, The only one I have seen recently enough to remember properly is Babylon 5, of which I find more of a comedy than anything else :P Not sure why - it just amuses me for some reason.

UMMMM.... TWILIGHT ZONE!!  How could you miss the FIRST SCIENCE FICTION show?

Some of my favorite Sci Fi show of my youth are SeaLab 2020 (the original cartoon... not the abomination that Cartoon Network puts on) and Man from Atlantis.  However this is my minors taste.

The classic, the one that defines science fiction for Americans, and much of the world, Star Trek OS. It set the stage and the format for Science Fiction Television (for without it, there would be no STNG, or SG or Bab 5, V, and so on...).  Sure there are some uniques out there (Dr Who, Blake 7, Time Cop, 7 Days (underrated in my opinion), and so on), but most follow the format Star Trek set.

I agree with Moon, Twilight Zone was the paragon and forerunner.

Of the choices, DS9 is my fave.  TOS had too much of Roddenberry's secular humanism to tell a decent story sometimes; episodes like "Who Mourns for Adonis?" and the like just beat you over the head with ideology.  DS9 had some variety in conflicts without presenting a clear good guy/bad guy archetype.  Also, Miles O'Brien is awesome.
