So we got a couple cats yesterday. Two mostly black with white socks. Maybe tuxedo colors they call them?
Anyhow, of course the kids get to name one each.
After a rash of horrible names, my son decides he wants to name the shy one that hides in the dark Cthulhu!
Makes perfect sense to me. Wife, however, somewhat disagrees.
After awhile we try and work in Thulhu. After all, you can call it lulu thulu or whatever...and adding the C to it is easy at that point.
Wife still not thrilled.
My daughter was hitting all the normal names for hers: Patches, Buttons, Missy, other random normal names.
But for the other, we were super stuck on Cthulhu and kept chanting it over and over. Even suggested Ftagen for the other cat's name but that was stopped with extreme prejudice. I still think that set would have been awesome.
So we moved on to Thulhu to try and balance it.
Thankfully my wife finally came around and suggested it be called: "Chester Arthur Thulhu" aka CAT aka Cthulhu.
And so it is.
The other was named "Dr. Buttons MD" by the way. Cats need long names!
Yes, the entire family definitely knows Cthulhu. We have a couple board games that invoke the madness and my daughter even played "Hot Cthulhu" at her 6th birthday party. Hot Potato is so pedestrian. So I find it hilarious that my son came up with the name on his own. It may have stemmed from me wanting the pure black cat to help curse the neighborhood, but they all decided against it.
