The inn was bustling with activity on the fourth and final night of the city of Torrent’s celebration for the Harvest Moon. Of course, in this part of town, the merry gatherings of the celebration were of a different sort. The Salted Pint sat along the eastern docks in the roughest part of Torrent. Every type of scum imaginable frequented the pubs in this location to include minor lords and their body guards.
Tonight was the final night of the celebration and Ghost wanted to enjoy some of it before the appointed meeting time he had set up with some young prospects. Sipping on his sweet red wine, the assassin took in the festivities going on inside the barroom. Dagger throwing, arm wrestling, drinking contests and full contact sparring matches were only a few of the many things going on within the huge oak barroom. A symphony of noises assaulted his senses as he took in the energetic heartbeat of the crowd.
Every so often, rough, hard looking men would stop and bow their heads slightly to him before continuing on with their business. This was not done out of any friendship or loyalties. Those that knew Ghost, knew he was a high ranking member of the Warlock’s thieving clan.
Tonight, Ghost was truly enjoying himself. Black leather covered his average frame from head to toe with numerous pouches dotting his attire. A black sheath containing his katana blade was strapped across his back and his thick black cloak was neatly folded over a near-bye chair. Reaching up with his left hand, Ghost scratched the neatly trimmed beard on his chin while looking down his sleeve to ensure his wrist dart mechanism was secure. He had acquired it many years ago from a crazed inventor having a business hardship with the clan. The device had grown on him.
Ghost’s skin was of an olive shade and his facial hair was as dark as his features. His overall look was one of a predator. From the hawkish nose resting over a neatly trimmed mustache, to the slightly protruding forehead which left his light brown eyes in constant pools of shadows; Ghost was a truly fearsome looking man. Some might whisper that he was a bit creepy, eccentric, kind, caring, heartless and sadistic. There really was no end to the stories about what kind of person he was. His thick black eyebrows lent to an overall dark looking demeanor contrasted only by the deep and numerous smiles that usually occupied his face. His black hair was long and thick and usually slicked back into a neat hanging ponytail.
It shouldn’t be long now, the assassin thought to himself as he took another sip of wine at a corner table off to the side of the main barroom chamber. His thoughts went to tonight’s preparations. That weasel nearly soiled himself when reporting that the invitations had been personally delivered to the new and talented recruits. His eyes almost popped out of their sockets at the sight of the gold he was promised for the task. Even now, the memory of slitting the pathetic messengers throat made Ghost want to wash and scrub his hands all over again. The man’s stench had been horrid.
He had chosen the greedy and dirty man because nobody would miss him. Secrecy was the key to his latest plan’s ultimate success. Using clan messengers was far too big a gamble. He could not chance that a rival might decide to grow a pair, thus trying to make a name for themselves by ruining him. No….far better to use souls that nobody would see….souls that nobody would miss.
Ghost sat back and lifted his wine to his lips in deep thought. Yes….tonight would be very interesting. If these new recruits were half as good as he hoped….things could change in ways he had never dared hope they could. Each of the selected had shown interest in the clan and word had gotten back to him. He had followed each for over a month now, watching and learning their strengths and weaknesses. He had even provided jobs through a median to see how thorough they were. To say the least, Ghost had been impressed a great deal by their performances. Tonight, he would finally give them what they desired. A chance to join the ranks of the Warlock clan….or so they thought.
OOC: Hey all, some of you have played with me before...so this will be nothing new to you. For the newcomers, pretty much the way I like to GM/guide the story on this thread is....you can post anything you like concerning your character. The one exception is...there actions. You can post what your character will ATTEMPT to do, and I as the moderator, will post the end results. If hte situation permitts, and you have time, you can post secondary actions should the first fail...but try not to get carried away. If the situation dictates you have seconds to react, please do not post six possible things your character will do in case one should fail. Try and keep it as realistic as possible. Should be alot of fun. Enjoy.
