I was trying to install a ceiling fan. I guess I put in in backwards or something, because when I turned it on, black smoke started pouring out of the side of it and it started making this high pitched whine. Then the whole thing spat out this distortion, like heatwaves. I turned off the light switch, but that didn't stop it from accelerating. It seemed to be doubling in speed every second, and the metal of the fan was beginning to glow from the heat. I ran out to the garage to pull the big lever on the circuit breaker, and when I got back there was just this huge, sucking hole in the center of my ceiling. My bookshelf was being pulled halfway into it and it was just going around and around, like a toilet that's not quite up to the task.
Needless to say, I got the hell out of Dodge.
But things were happening outside of the house, too. Creatures were rushing past the window, just a mouth and then 500' of wind noise and dull phosphorescence. Things that looked like blackened corkscrews were winding up through the floor in clusters. The front door burst open, and in strode a cadre of penguins, led by a captain who was neither penguin nor man but somehow both more and less than both. The moon peeled off the roof, and leveled a hunting rifle at me, with a bore that reminded me of missile silos and black holes.
Anyway, after I gave up frequent usage of hard drugs, I needed a place to indulge my safer hobbies, like DnD, and Google pointed me here. Pretty boring story, really.
