Screen Resolution
« on: July 11, 2005, 09:14:22 PM »
At work I have been using a computer that I really haven't thought that much about. When I looked at the resolution I realized it was 1280x1024. Still didn't think much about it.

At home while I code I am at 1024x768 on all my computers. Just standard me using a standard resolution. Then it hits me, duh, I could get much more screen real estate by using 1280x1024, the word wraps would be fewer, I could see more lines and I was already comfortable with that resolution because I use it at work.

Eureka!

So, for curiosity, what is your preferred resolution?

The main family PC is a 1024x768, but my personal PC (oh the irony) is a 1600x1200. There's not too many backgrounds out there for that size, but when I do find them they usually are d**ned good ones. But I'll put in the vote for the family PC, seeing as its an option there.

EDIT:
For instance:

Just look at it. It's beautiful.

EDIT2: Watch out if your computers a touch slow. This pic is huge.

1024x768 is perfect for me...I mean 800x600 shows too big characters and 1280x1024 shows it too small...I'll stick with it...

Well, sometimes the screen stays on an extended bender, and misses work on the 3rd, especially if it's been hanging out with the scanner again, that lush...

I use 800x600. Everything else is too small for me.

LOL "lush." That's a great word!

I use 1024x768, but I'm going to save up for a really big computer screen {after I get my iPod nano today! <33 } It'll be my next big purchase and then I can have a BIG screen res! *Go ME!*

OH Glory. Just recieved my two brand spanking new Samsung SyncMaster 710 monitors. Oh, the glory of it all.

I have just reclaimed over a foot of deskspace and have these small framed beauties snuggled together into an almost seamless dual monitor system.

Oh Glory, me likey!

I've got a 1280x1024 setup on a 17" LCD screen. I like my setup, really, even if I wish I had the free funding to fully customize everything...

I've got 1024x768 on an ANCIENT moniter.  It has to be a whole decade old, and it was sitting alone in an attic for about 2 yrs.  It works though, and I can't ask for much more, except maybe for a moniter that isn't 3.5 ft long.

1024*768 on the laptop. With the 15" screen that is as high a resolution I want to go.

On the home pc, 1280*something. That one has a 21" screen (TFT)

For me resolution is still size based. I would not want a 21" to run 800*600, the icons would be too big. But on a 15" tube, I would not want to run 1024*768 either, because the icons would be way too silly small.

With kind regards,

Ylorea
