Morgoth (Read the Silmarillion) was jealous of the Elves, so during the War of the Powers (Or one of those wars on Middle-Earth) he twisted some Elves in the bad dudes known as Orcs.

Trust me. I know a lot about Tolkien. I've even read the Book of Lost Tales 1 and 2.

In addition to actually reading the books for the information I found a really cool web resource for all things Tolkien.

Go to http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/default.htm for an encyclopedia of Arda.

This site even backs up someone earlier comment that Orcs and Goblins are the same.  Well sort of, according to the above site, goblins are small versions of Orcs.

I finally got into The Silmarllion enough and you are correct (and perhaps the only other person to have read The Silmarllion)

Ha, I did too!

Cool, there are at least three of us in the club now.

That encyclopedia helped answer some lingering questions for me. It even defined goblins and hobgoblins for me.

I swear I read somewhere that Uruk-Hai were a goblin orc mix, the encyclopedia says they are the same things.

They readded it in the extended version, but I would be complaining about not having the gifts they were given when they left that second elven city (I am horrible with remembering names) Remember, the gift of light to be used in total darkness or whatever. That was totally dumped, and, uh, possibly some important foreshadowing? Not sure how they will work that, but it was a cool part of the book.

When they left Lothlorien in the movie Peter Jackson did put in the part about Frodo reciving the light thinggy (in the theater version) but I feel that most people will forgrt about it by the time Return of the King Comes out, because they didn't get to shelob's lair by the end of the second movie. They should have extended the movie a little and left the ppl thinking that frodo was dead! Oh, well.

Oooohhhh, that would have been a good cliffhangar. Everybody probably would have ruined it for the others though, that is a long time to keep a secret, but they would still be more motivated to find out what happened.

But, then again, that may have pissed off a lot of people as well letting such a big thing hang for so long. It may make the final movie better saving it all for a large Frodo story.

We shall see though

I hope it does because They did not have enough Frodo/Sam (not Slash)
In TTT. I mean by the end of the battle at helms deep and at Isengaurd
cronalogicaly Frodo and Sam would have been right outside of Shelob's Lair
and They did not put That in (It did not make me mad but after I read it a couple months later, I figured it out) And in Fangorn forrest they spent much more time at the Ent meeting thing than they did in the movie. Merry and Pippin had to wait at Treebeards house for a few days, fo petes sake!

It's still my all time favorite movie with Monty Python and the Holy Grail running a close second Because they dont have good looking guys in MP.

I'm sorry, but people should be forced to read the book before they see the movie version. If your entire experience of Dune, or LOTR, or something like that, is based on the movie version, which, in my opinion, can never, under any circumstances, be as good as the original, then they are seriously deprived.

I agree with the Capn',  Most  of the movies I have seen that are based on books, are nothing when compared to the written version.  However my brother would strongly disagree I believe it has alot to do with how creative you imagination is!

I look up each person and try to figure out how they are related to one another not to mention trying to learn Sindarin. I only know a few words so far.

No, Taniquetil means "white mountain" or "white peak" or something on that order.
