The series was.... to darn good. Anything else will just pale in comparison as there will be no epic sweep and running plotlines.

It is a good thing so many episodes of Star Trek (OS, or heck any of them) weren't all that good. Thus even shlock still seems pretty good. At least they can get it right every other movie.

I actually thought that B5 was really good up until the Shadow War arc, when it got... really weird.  (They should have stayed away from the psuedo-religious themes.)

I want it on DVD.

Last Night I watched   "Big Trouble in Little China".  I really love Netflix. You can see all those things you want to see... eventually.

What a coincidence.  We were just discussing its unofficial precursor, Buckaroo Bonzai, over at Uncle Bear's.

I have gotten both of those from netflix over the past 6 months or so.

Right now I am waiting for the final disk of the final episodes of The Sopranos. Don't ruin it for me, I haven't heard that the ending sucks yet. :)

I can understand why many people thought it sucked, but I thought it was kinda a perfect ending.

Let me know what you think.

Ah, how I have come to love that sense of accomplishment and victory that I get when I pull the wool over the eyes of a clever player character. What DM Triumphs have you had?

2. Finally achieving a TPK (Total Party Kill)
3. Finally achieving a TPK using only traps
4. Finally working out how to make it so that d**n wizard doesn't steal the spotlight all the d**n time.

The Mist - The recent remake of the Stephen King novella. The special effects were A grade, but the acting was second rank, plus the movie was precut for the insertion of commercials. Fade to black screen changes for no apparent reason at transitions in the flow. All in all, not a bad watch, but I'm glad I didnt see it in the theatres.

Cloverfield - This movie kind of remins me of Oasis, great on it's own merit, but when the film makers set out to replace Godzilla as the king of the Monsters, it was about like when the guys from Oasis said they were going to be bigger than the Beatles. Good rent, and I wish I had coughed up the dough and seen this one at the theatre. As for the bit about motion sickness, there was really only one scene that affected me any.

So Cloverfield is a monster flick then?

Yep, it a Giant Monster Stomps a City movie, this time the city is New York and rather than the traditional method of making monster movies, the entire movie is shot from the perspective of a person with a handheld camera. Kind of like what we might really see if there was a monster attack, shaking camera shots and short clips of video posted on the internet, cameraphones, that sorta thing.

I want to see Cronos.  I went and got The Orphanage, but I want to get someone to watch it with me since it looks all manner of freaky.

I have decided that Del Toro is pretty much incapable of NOT making a kick-ass movie.

I know he did Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth, plus the aforementioned The Orphanage, Cronos, and Devil's Backbone (which I waaaaaaaaaant).  Am I missing a couple?

Seen Babylon A.D. recently. Vin Diesel as I am used to him, the movie just left me with a "huh?". Not entirely bad, could be much better and clearer. An action movie with some perks, don't expect more.

The Lives of Others - a movie to get a feel for the former NDR (East Germany) and the workings of its meticulous secret police, very recommended. Experts say it worked even better...
Do not correct me, I know I am wrong.

How would you say it stacks up against the first Spider Man movie? Better? Or around the same?

I'm not sure the comparison can be made. Both were extremely good, but both were good in their own ways. I think Spider-Man wins, simply out of classic-nostalgia, as well as the final self-sacrifice moment at the end.

Both are good, it hows the evolution of both heroes and how thet had to learn their powers rather than just automagically understand them, compare Stark learning to fly in the iron man prototype with Parker experimenting with the web slinging on the roof scene. The biggest difference between the two movies is that Stark is a multi-billionaire playboy with all of the toys who realizes that he has to do the right thing. Parker is still living at home down on his luck everyman who chooses the path of the hero after his actions indirectly lead to his uncle's death.

I liked Iron Man better because Stark isn't a whiner, whereas Spidey has a bit much angst.

Iron Man is more akin to Batman, as both have gained their 'super powers' by their own willpower, Batman's discipline compares to Iron Man's technical know-how. Spidey got bit by a spider, and at the end of the movie doesnt get the girl (even though it is by his own expressed sacrifice)

Except for that one disturbing scene. The one that makes you want to stab your own eyes with knives. Know which scene I mean? :p

Fight Club
This movie is simply awesome. You are not your furniture, you are not your job, you are not the contents of your wallet.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Conquerors of Shamballa
I like Fullmetal, and there is plenty of thaumatech in the State Alchemist's art. Mix in alternate timelines, nazi rocket powered airships, homunculi and all that. Not bad at all.

Hellboy II, The Golden Army
Chock full of graphical eye candy. If you dont get an idea for a sub or six from this movie, check for lobotomy scars.

True Blood
The HBO series deviates a good deal from the novels, and it is kinda obvious that the screenwriters of the series have heard of the World of Darkness. Still entertaining vamp series, with HBO it comes with almost gratuitous gore and a fair amount of nudity.

Currently watching the second season of Heroes. Not bad at all but there's a lot that remains a mystery, so much so that it gets a bit confusing towards the end.

P.S:Hell Boy 2 seems to be a movie that you either love or hate. A few of the local magazines gaive it some pretty good  reviews but my sister said it was the most mindless waste of time that she has ever experienced .
