(OOC) Okay, so this is my first freeform post EVER, and I would appreciate it if all you roleplaying vets out there could give me your (constructive) criticism. I need all the help I can get, so feel free to add posts that might strengthen the plot/characters. Thanx!
There has been a rumor circulating around the town of Khoresca that someone is gathering a group of bounty hunters together for a quest. A quest for some great and powerful object. What it is, no one can really say for sure, but this is fresh news in a sleepy town, so naturally everyone's curiosity has been aroused.
What no one knows about the object is that it is the ancient Lute of Panthyar, similar in power to an alchemist's stone. The great warrior king, Nodros, had the lute especially made for himself by a specialist team of alchemists, thaumaturgists, and highly skilled metal workers.Once wrought, the Lute had the power to turn battles in the favor of one side, or give a life prolonging elixir, depending upon which notes were played in a certain succesion. Nodros did not use the Lute to give himself a longer life, but instead to become one of the land's greatest warrior kings ever. The last time the Lute was seen was when Nodros rode into his last battle with it.
Nodros was old, and not as strong as he once had been. He was killed, but when people searched for his Lute, it was nowhere to be found. Some say he buried it midway into the battle, wanting to die a warrior's death without anyone finding his precious Lute. Others say that his fair daughter, Ghwynn, who was alway by his side in battle, managed to escape, and hide it in her impenetrable castle in the far lands of Nona-Al-Hasun.
The town tavern, the Crippled Frog, is practically buzzing with the news. You are a skilled bounty hunter, and have blown into town in search of a job. You have not heard the latest gossip, but you soon will hear the story firsthand. As you sit at the bar, on your third pint of mead, a shadowy figure in a cloak sits down in the seat next to you. The hood is up so you cannot see the person's face, but a hissed converation is started by the figure.
"Looking for a job?"
You nod.
"I have heard of your skills, and am in need of your...services. The price is 300 shekels to start, 700 more if you manage to live through the journey, and you also get thirty percent of the booty. You in?"
You nod your head once more in assent.
"Good, meet me by the stables one hour before daybreak.Bring whatever equipment you need, and enough food and water to last for several months."
The shadowy figure then leaves you to your mead.
