A skeleton walks into a bar and ask the Bartender: “Do you serve skeletons here?”

Times being what they are the wily Bartender replies: “sure, we serve anyone.”

The skeleton hands the man a silver and says: “Fine, I’ll have a pitcher of beer…and a mop”

Maggot? Are you OK??

It would be ironic if Maggot, the creator of a watery world, was to be killed or injured by a tidal wave.

Maggot, I hope you and your computer survived the deluge.

Almost unbelievable. Don't have TV and am not working so I don't get the full effect...but from what I have seen on the web....man.

Read on another board how a news agency was concentrating on the "inconvenience" of air travel and the trouble people had getting their luggage due to the event. Now that is perspective ?

I was a millimeter away from going on a 45 day relief deployment to Thailand. I am leaving Japan in March though so it is too close to my change of duty station to go.

This is one I would have really wanted to go on too. I am sure they will be getting a lot of support in the coming days from all over.

Maggot reporting to assure everyone that he and his little island were spared the wrath of the earthquake and tsunamis.Singapore being sheilded as it is by Indonesia and Malaysia, escaped with only a few tremors. Not so lucky were those of my countrymen on vacation in Phuket,Thailand.A few of them drowned.Still,we're a lot better off than our regional neighbours. Will be a long time before my folks feel comfortable about beach parties, though.

 Thanks for your concern,guys. :)

The news announced it as "the largest humanitarian relief effort in history."  From all reports, 24 dead--while tragic for those families--is fortunate that there weren't far more.

I've been to Phuket; it's a nice place.

Maybe a little innappropriate, but does everybody pronounce "Phuket" the way I think?

I think it's pronounced ''Pukhet''.At least that's how I pronounced it.And yes Cheka,I'm glad I and the rest of Sinagapore escaped mostly unscathed.Unfortunately, there is always a group of morons that are never grateful. On the night of the disaster, local news actually interviewed  a group of retarded people that kept whining about their vacations being called off. They didn't seem to care about the fact that thousands had perished,or that if that if things had gone as planned, they'd be making an unexpected trip to the afterlife.

"Poo-ket" rather than "phuck-it"

The latter is more fun to use among an English-speaking & unknowing audience.

Well, Jerome posted something in Greetings Traveler, and he didn't say Alia was dead, so I think they're probably okay.

I am now free to laugh!
"phuck-et"!
Heh-heh-heh-heh... :)

I have a question, though... On the news, they spell the name of that region in Sumatra as "Banda Aceh", but they pronounce it "bahn-dah ah-chay". Am I missing something? Shouldn't it be spelled "Banda Ache"?
