Anfalas could stand it no more. And neither could Talahar. The Kings of both countries could not ignore th outcries of the citizens for war and so they yieled and called to war against each other. Both were hoping for a quick and painless war, the Kings thought. But the soldiers on both sides knew better. They had both been in border skirmishes with the Anfalas Ranger and the Talaharan Legion Soldier; they knew this would be a long and bloody war. The armies of Anfalas were smaller, but were more well-kpt, organized into tighter fighting units and adapt to fighting in small groups. The Talaharans were by far larger, but not as well organized. But they were elite in open field and heavy assault tactics. The first met battle was on a small creek bed on the border called by the Talaharans as the Skald River, but by the elves as the Erin River. It didn't matter, for soon they wouldn't care the name, only for their survivals. The battle was short, but bloody. Talaharan archers took position on the west bank while Elvish archers took positions on the east bank. They sent vollies on both sides and it prooved to be useless for the Talaharans who were no match for the well-sighted elves. So they sent heavy calvary across and they were able to push back the archers, but only to meet tight armoured soldiers and they soon lost ground. The Talaharan Commander soon decided to send all the forces rushing in. This tactic worked, using brute force against the Elves, but not without heavy casualties, the elves retreated farther into the woods, and the humans could not go into the forest without coming out looking like a pincussion. The humans withdrawed onto the west bank and set camp. The elves seeking their chance did a nigt attack. It was devasting, but the humans were not surprised, for they had hired wild elves who had lived in the plains of Talahar to help them. This with the power of the humans, in a fight that lasted a night, were able to finally drive back the elves. But on both sides heavy prices had been made. And so both Kings of the country knew this war would be terrible.
The Elvish Commander had heard of the Battle of the Erin, but cared not for it. He was a ruthless and cunning elf, who cared only for victory and nothing for the lives of his men. He had graduated from the Aademy and was indeed the best and the brightest of the commanders of the Anfalas Military. So he was to attack Talahar from the southeastern border with only 5,000 soldiers under his command! That was ridiculous, but orders were orders, and he would be glad to attack the 'fertile' lands of Talahar which was located in the southern part. So, he marched his men off to war. The elvish commander, was a very known nobel and love to how it off to all the other elf nobels. He was a short, but stern elf, with a pale face from too much reading and not getting in the sun and his hair was pale blond, his face sharply elvish. He wore the white armour of the Anfalas Field soldier. Brigandine armour at the best. He was slim and looked skinny, but made of iron. He had a short sword and a long bow with him on his white horse as he moved with the front of the army. His name was Aelric Leithe, and it sparked fear among his men, for they knew him to be a ruthless elf and behind them they called him the d**ned High Elf, for he indeed was a high elf, and one of the last in all of Anfalas.
