The Defence of Cantri

(The setting is Warcraft in the latest days be whatever character you like my idea for this RP was of many yearnings to play WOW or world of warcraft coming to open beta soon next week maybe anywho.)

"You know what kind of day this is Marcus?"
"A day of reconing father?" Replied Marcus.
"No son this is a day of Vengance, A day for you to avenge your father." replied the priest. He shifted his weight and eyed Marcus with a roving eye searching for weakness. Marcus only stared ahead, the troops of the allience stood ready there great bannors of blue shown like a star in the sky. A lone dwarven troop marched tward the hord ranks. The two armies less than 600 yards from each other. From this distance Marcus could see the dwarven phalanx spears held high.
"Press'n mater's from da wight flank father, da elvers say day gota go!" screached a messanger who rode to them on a pony that looked as if it had seen its mother being dragged off by the devil himself.
"Tell them they shall have no help from the Humans if they leave this battle feild." said the father calmly.
Marcus always wondered how he could keep his cool. He pated his fathers hammer Valendar its craftsmanship was impeckable it was the envy of even the noblest elf. Forged during the rule of Kartathi, a mighty demi god who demanded the best of everything, forced elven blacksmith's to forge him the finest war hammer that the world had seen. It was passed down through generations and finaly bistoed upon Marcus. He was the eldest of his fathers joy. His strength knew no bounds, he had studied with the father for 11 years to become a paladin. His first trial was this, defend his home city Cantri. A mining town of epic proportions. His gleaming silver steel alloy armor was that of the elven forge as well. The strongest plate mail Cantri's had ever known. With a golden cross on the front cest plate and crosses on the gauntlets. A spell was placed upon the armor to always show bright and true. The sheild was of the same alloy and bosted numourus a spike on the buisness side.

"Sir the dwarven fools attack us your orders sire?" Belowed a large Tauren who held a large pole bloodend by many battles.
"Hahah.....let them come." said the dreadlord Darthius a demon of the old age he knew well of dwarven tactics. His horns sprouted through his black armor which covered every inch of the wreched demon lord. He bosted a sword far to large for 10 humans to carry it was stained with blood of generations.
His hord army were regulars and he stood 10,000 strong Darthius outnumber the Allience nearly five to one.
"Sir the elfs are retreating they flee like sheep!" roared the tauren.
"Yes haha the fools they have done what the dark night had forseen and just as the profocy foretells we shall conquere this city and forge ourselves a weapon to obliterate all who opose us!"

Sentinel had been brought her to represent the City of Elimirth and the Guild of Anawaith, which was a Guild for elite Rangers. But what what Sentinel saw now stunned him to a maddenining rage. Sentinel was outraged as all the other elves retreated an only his Anawaith Elves stood their place, who numbered only a few hundred. To rally his men, Sentinel galloped in the gront of the lines; in one hand the banner of Anawaith, a green flag with a silver spade, and in the other a Sword of Anawaith. His men roared out their battle cry as Sentinel moved them into a frenzy saying:
"We will not flee, we will stand our ground, we will not surrender, we shall become the victor!"
Sentinel stopped his horse and handed the banner to an eager young elf and whistled out. The longbows were readied and notched with arrows. Then they were all pointed upward."Fire!"
Sentinel yelled out and the air filled with arrows. They fell into the enemy army. The Anawaith Rangers were known for their deadly accurcy, and they proved it now. Sentinel saw the Dwarf troop marching and yelled out the order to march, with the drills in mind, the remaining elves marched in tight ranks, pointing their spears forward, making a wall of spears. Behind them rode the small calvary who prepared their bows. Sentinel rode in the very front on the spears, chancing his own spears and the enemies defenses, showing his men reckless courage as they seethed with anger and were blood hungry, but under the stern leadership of Sentinel, they did not go crazy.

Dark archers took places in the shadows of the trees from where they could get a good shot at the battlefield. There was about two hundred of them, holding positions right behind the Anawaith spearmen, firing vollew after volley of deadly arrows. If you could catch a glimpse of them, you realized that they were Night Elves. And if you had the chance to look even closer, you find out they were the Anawaith guild representatives from Cylencis, the capital of Night Elves. A troup of 50 druids launched spess and curses from right behind them, weakening the huge enemy army. No malee units were seen, that was not the forte of the Night Elves. Alariel was right behid the elven spearmen lines, directing his archers and druids  with hand signals, for the roar of the battle was too great. He quickly adjusted the white strip of cloth that covered his eyes, blindfolding him, then continued with his directions. He heard Sentinel roar out orders at the front, and smiled to himself.

Sentinel glanced behind him and saw the druids launch their magic into the large army. Sentinel smiled darkly as he yelled out once more.
"Calvary! Fire!"
The calvary archers fired and the arrows landed into the enemy army. Sentinel closed his eyes as he used an ancient technique, it slowed his heartbeat down and he entered a state of calm few could find.
"Rangers! Charge!"
The Anawaith Rangers roared as they charged forward and slammed into the enemy army. Sentinel jumped up as he dodged the spears of his men and cut through the lines, twirling his blade around as blood splattered against him and his horse.

He never liked this kind of battles, with so many troops clashing toghether, because the only way to get to the enemy easily was to be in the front lines, and being in the front lines, in the middle of the chaos, was almost certain death. Because of this, he waited back right behind the main unit, finishing off any lucky enemies who got that far without being killed by either sword, spear, arrow of magic. The druids launched continuous magical attacks, each taking down a score of enemy soldiers at a time. The archers were letting fly arrow after arrow in a smooth flowing motion. They pulled out an arrow, notched it, pulled the string, let go, pull out another arrow and so on, over and over again. Each arrow hit its mark, every single one of them. The Night Elven archers were legendary, especialy the one in the Anawaith guild.

Sentinel killed several who were unfortunate enough to fall under his blade. He galloped far into the enemy lines where most of his men had not even reached yet. Sentinel was knocked off his horse by an enemy with a pike and fell onto the ground. He got up quickly and slashed the head off the man as he started fighting just a blur as his legendary fighting technique came into play, like a graceful dancer he was killing with ease and calm.

A few lucky enemies got through the dense line of Elven rangers, and reached a position in front of Ahren. He quickly smiled and charged them, drawing his slim blades in the process. They both had ancient insciptions on them, that glowed a dark green. Two out of the three attackers jumped aside quickly yet a third met Ahren's left blade, which cut a deep gash in his right side. The other two came in, thinking they could catch him busy. His blades snapped outwards to his sides, then summersaulting backwards. The two foes stopped when they were only mere inches away from each other, just in time to meet the blades comming in one after the other, in smooth motions, slicing neat X's on each of their throats. They were both quite dead before they touched the ground. "And you'd think that the army who pushed us back this far would proove more of a chalange," he said getting ready to meet the last foe. An arrow flew past Ahren and embeded itself deep into the enemy's fore head. "Thanks for stealing all the fun!!!" he shouted back, throwing one of his arms in the air. He had no armour to defend him if he decided to get in the front lines, so he was stuck behind them.

As the battle slowly raged on the enemy slowly were being pushed back, hammered, by magic, calvary, and arrows, they panicked trying to get away from all sides. Sentinel had found another horse and was galloping with a unit of his men through the enemy lines, leaving a trail of death behind them as they let none who came close live

If Sentinel keeps going like that, I will lose my share of the fighting. Time to take action," he said when he stood besides a small troop of his druids. He picked five of them and said, "You will be coming with me. Change into bear and panther forms and lets go.". They took the flanks, picking off any enemies atht got separated from the main body. The panthers sprung from tree to tree, taking out anyon esingle while the bears and Ahren took on any groups they might have ecountered. Soon, they were level with Sentinel's advance.

The enemy army finally crumbled under the attacks and retreated. The Anawaith ranger stopped and launched vollies into the enemies rear as they ran away. Sentinel raised his air and the air filled with the rumble of victory.

Even after the normal archers stoped shooting, the Night Elven ones were still launchign volleys of arrows. Now, they aimed their enchanted bows upwards, making an arrow go almost three times the distance. When they finaly stopped, they stepped out of the shodows and showed themselves. Ahren emmerged from the trees flanking the battlefield, his blades sleathed away. He was accompanied by 3 large panthers, and 2 bears, which quickly changed back to druids. "Victory, is sweet" he said to Sentinel smiling.

He jumped off his horse and crossed to Ahren clasping him on his bicep and his other forarm in a show of friendship. He nodded as he frowned slapping him on the bicep as he let ago and sighed looking at the many dead.
"The Elder said we must carry out battle like a funeral, for we bring the death of many people. Remember that. There is no happiness to victory, you have killed and that is not the way to lead a life, no matter who that person be, no matter if he be a soldier or mercenary-for-hire."

"We bring the death of many people, that is true and that, I trully regret. Yet we bring the death of many people to save many more from death. Is that not why we fight, to defend our people from being killed or enslaved? I do not take great pleasure in killing living things, but I will not let the enemy kill inocent people because if I am to oppose him I will spill blood." he responded with logic. "I am not happy because I killed the people I killed, I am happy because I kept the people I killed from killing others." he added, then a smile formed on his lips.

He nodded as he sighed.
"Even so, there could have been many possibilites if the enemy had won, other paths that could happen by just a mere twitch of the finger."
He smiled back though and nodded.
"But I see the point in which you speak. We did a great deed today."

He nodded. "Indeed. Now, we deserve a rest, a well earned one too!" he said looking around at the rest of the men. "Furin, Gyntis, Tyran, Perion," he shouted, as four druids came forth one by one. "I need you to take a look at where the enemy has retreated, and what their plans may be," he said. The four druids nodded and transformed into ink black crows taking flight midway through the transformation. "Where should we set up camp?" he asked Sentinel, turning back to him.

He smiled and raised an eyebrow towards Ahren.
"Out in the nearby forest, so our rangers and druids will feel at home, but first we must bury our dead and pile the carcasses of the enemy."
He nodded and yelled out to all the elves who could hear.
"We must bury the dead, to save them from carrions, and burn the enemy!"
The men went at this grumpily as they sent some wounded men to the forest as the camp was set up deep within it. The bodies were starting to be piled as holes were being buried. Sentinel turned towards Ahren.
"Then we rest."

"Indeed. A dirty job, but someone's got to do it," he said. "What is the enemy regroups and returns?" he asked, looking the way enemy fled. He was never the master of open warfare tactics. He preffered raids in small but effective groups, which sometimes, when well organized, made as much damage as these battles.
