Do you use visual aids ie. pictures a lot, or do you just describe things or use models?  My roleplay game doesn't use models and I haven't played roleplay long enough to know whether pictures or descriptions are better.
If you use pictures, do you draw them or use other peoples'?
I thought therefore I was, but then YOU started thinking and that really put me off.

I do a little of both.
I mostly describe things, but I can say I'm a fair drawer, and I do a bit of my own artwork. I don't use other people's artwork- proffessional fantasy artists are so boring.

I only do descriptions as I have found that drawings are an impediment to the imagination.

Another group I was playing with 9 years ago used miniatures, but they were even more devastating to the imaginations of players.

That is why I have developed techniques to describe scenes, persons and items as vividly as possible.
