Coal Dog and the Seven Grass Spiders- Requests and OOCs

Coal Dog, adventurer, pirate, and swordsman extraordinaire, has once again run afoul of the infamous Grass Spiders, the faceless, shadowy assassins known across the land as peerless killers. Having interfered once again in a Grass Spider killing contract, which they vow never to break, Coal Dog finds himself captured. One of the Three Elite Fiends, the masters of the Grass Spiders, splits Coal Dog's heart into seven pieces, and replaces it with a diamond. Coal Dog is given a choice- join the Grass Spiders, or in nine days, the diamond in his chest will burst into flames. Coal Dog refuses, and escapes, only to collapse upon an empty highway somewhere in Esse Prefecture.

Discovered by a pair of Crane Clansmen upon his road, Coal Dog sets out to find the seven pieces of his heart before Doom comes to meet him.

This is a roleplay in the Empire. If you don't know the deal, check out the thread in Setting Forge. Or maybe as it's own thread. I'm not sure yet, because we're in a transition stage, if you know what I mean.

The story has slots for, at most, seven people, including myself (Coal Dog).
I also need two people to play the Crane Clans noble and his yojimbo (bodyguard) or slave. The Crane Clansmen need to find Coal Dog on a road or somesuch. So that leaves room for five more people. Get posting.

For those of you who've never been in Penguin Roleplay before, here's da' rules:
1. My word is LAW!
2. Absolutely NO MUNCHKINISM!
-Munchkinism is hereby defined as: Power-gaming, god-moding, playing a sorceror character, and/or controlling/killing off/otherwise affecting mine or others' NPCs without permission.
3. I want to keep this moving so it won't stagnate and die. If you don't post for five days, we'll go on without you, unless you provide a decent reason for not posting.

5. Also, follow all rules not hereby outlined that are outlined in the Freeform Rules in the regular Freeform board.

Oh, and another thing- post a name, form of Man, and background here.
It would help if your characters had a grudge against the Grass Spiders or something like that- there needs to be some sort of motivation to help Coal Dog.

Note on the Crane Clan- they are the consumate courtiers, the arbiters of honor, grace, and fashion. Crane Clansmen are not the greatest warriors, or the wisest sages, but they are the most silver-tongued, eloquent, graceful bastards you have ever met.

Auspicious Day appears in the traditional armor of the Mantis, lacquered green, and armed with a heavy bladed Go-rang and a nabori showing a jade green mantis embracing a chysanthemum. The banner looks slightly dirty and rumpled.

He talks with a heavy peasant accent, the rural lord of a small village. He also is a heavy drinker, swears, and has generally poor behavior and non-existant manners. Therefore, behaves like an indulgent noble. Also only uses Auspicious Day as a formal name and more commonly goes by Lucky Day

Name: Jiy Lin

Lin was born in Wind's Edge, or so she assumes.  She doesn't really know.  When she was three, she and her parents were traveling, for some reason or another.  Lin doesn't know the reason either, for her parents were killed on the road.  Lin was found by a wandering sell-sword, who adopted her.  He raised her as his own daughter for thirteen years, and the life of a wandering adventurer was one that Lin adapted to readily.  As young as twelve, she started developing her own skills, but she chose a slightly different way of life.  Naturally, her adopted father didn't know she was training to be an assassin, until he accidentally found out after her second job.  He took a remarkably laid back view to this, however.
It all fell apart shortly after Lin turned sixteen.  The sell-sword was killed by Grass Spider Assassins.  Lin was not a happy assassin.  She swore to have revenge, at the very least killing the man who did the actual killing.  She's spent the last year finding out as much as she can about the Grass Spiders in roundabout ways.  She picks up enough work that she gets by in the meantime.
Lin poses as a wandering musician, and occasionally even makes money at it.  She is a small woman, and dresses in a peculiar mish-mash of styles, depending on her whim.  Part of the reason that she is more or less successful in her chosen line of work is that she looks completely unthreatening.
