A dark time has swept the Milky way Galaxy. In the fifth millennia mankind has spread out to the fringes of the galaxy, and to the deepest star of the galactic core.  The golden age of man is long dead, in the 5004 interstellar corporations control everything, and freedoms once enjoyed during the time of Federate Alliance were lost.  The Federate Alliance was the government that led man into interstellar space in the 31st Century.   The resources of the Sol and the near by Juniper systems were hopelessly expended anything that was recycled was but even that wasn’t enough for inflating population.  

Then Doctor Jaclyn Jackson, a theorist in quantum physics, made the discovery that saved man, Flashspace.  She found that if a ship generated an intense enough light beam that was scaled to the size of the ship and corresponded to how far that the captain of the ship wanted to travel, a hole could be torn in the fabric of reality by firing the beam then sending a tachyon charge into the beam, the hole would open around the ship then flash into flash space.  In Flashspace ships could move several times the speed of light with little power. Flashspace corresponded to Realspace but without proper ships a novice pilot could be lost in space forever or end up shredding his/her ship in gravity wells produced by large mass object such as planets or stars in Realspace.

   With this discovery mankind was able to spread out across the stars and seek out new resources, and seek out new life forms.  Under the Federate Alliance mankind discovered three new sentient races.  The first was the Sychrians, a species so like humans some thought it was just parallel evolution and they were human but that was quickly proved false when Sychrians showed their ability to manipulate organic material with no assistance at all.  Sychrians have glands in the hands that allow them to manipulate the molecular structure of non metal materials and cellular structure.  This ability allows for extremely powerful healing abilities.  Sychrians can accelerate healing, cure disease and even cause new limbs to grow off of any empty joint.  These abilities do not become prevalent till puberty in Sychrians.  Sychrians are human like in appearance and very in skin, eye, and hair color.  The only notable difference from them and humans are the thin green veins in their hands. Their advanced bio abilities, allowed the Sychrians to develop creature tools, weapons, and ships. A Sychrian tool worker or pilot is as much of a creature empath as what he does, whether piloting, fighting, or building.  

   The second sentient species discovered by the Federate Alliance was the Talon Crèche a reptilian species that developed slowly over time.  They stand roughly 2-2.5 meters tall, and are on average 3 meters long.  The Talon Crèche body is reminiscent of a raptor of old Earth’s Jurassic time period, but with longer arms and their hand have three long dexterous fingers with a opposable thumb.  The Talon Crèche have primitive ships but they are Flashspace capable.  Talon Crèche are great warriors and aggressive most work as mercenaries for the various corporations.  

The third race discovered by the Federate Alliance was the Rish.  A very technologically advanced race that was capable of astounding Flashspace feats their ships were able to travel into Flashspace from deep gravity wells.  The Rish physically are 1.6 to 2 meters tall with large heads and pale blue skin.  The Rish also have minor telekinetic abilities, this ability is incorporated with their technology and anyone without it cannot work their technology.  Rish that are born “gimpedâ€? are seen as outcasts by the Rish religion.  They are seen as outcasts by their gods so they are totally excluded from Rish culture. They are forced to live in remote planetary penal colonies and carve out a living with physical labor. The Rish society is divided into castes: The priest class or Akta’Ish which is also the ruling class and the top of Rish culture.  Followed by the bureaucrat class or Naeto’sh which are administrators and fill out all the managerial duties also fill out as scribes.  Below them and warriors and enforces of the Rish or Flaotaka’risss.  The fill out as sailors, ship captains, ground troops, starfighter pilots, and any other combat position.  Below them is the Tech Caste or Teka’hhh, the Techs are the most educated of the Rish but a small caste to keep their views weak.  Techs work as ship engineers, architects, and fill out all the other positions that need the technical abilities of a tech.  The Labor Caste or Oata’iih fill out all the physical labor requirements and most of the population.  

   During the reign of the Federate Alliance all forms of currency were dropped and capitalism was abolished.  Humanity united under the Federate Alliance and worked without pay in the hope of survival.  At the end of the 44th Century when survival was assured capitalism made a come back, and their no laws on the in place to prevent cooperate growth.  By the end of 45th Century the Federate Alliance was disbanded and the Corporations had complete power.  Citizens were employees; anyone not employed by the Corporations had to fend for himself in the Rim Territories.  In the 50th century buying on the margin was the hit fad but when one of the five corporations was found to be lying about its profits and was actually in the process of bankruptcy almost everyone sold their stock.  Prices on stock plummeted while prices on items skyrocketed more than 50% of the population found themselves out of a job.  More than 65% of the population found themselves in debt.  The turn of the millennia found billions of humans homeless or on the run from the Cooperate Police or Bounty Hunters.  

Common Human Weapons:*
Projectile Weapons: Pistols, Machine Guns, Rifles, Shot guns.  All of these just made to rend, explode, and pierce armor. A gun can be kept and modified easily, newer models use case less ammunition and finer powder that reduces jamming.  

Beam Weapons:  Cooperate Police issue only but can be found on the growing black market for the right price.  Beam weapon use intense rays of light that burn flash and melt armor.  Beam weapons are slow fire rifles that can melt away most forms of armor but are often scattered by shield generators.

Gauss Weapons: The Thunderstroke and Howler Gauss Rifle and Assault Rifle use energy capacitors and magnetic barrels to sling 8 inch or 4 inch spikes of solid Nickel Titanium at hypersonic speeds.

Common Rish Weapons:
PAC: Particle Accelerator Cannon.  A large rifle weapon that uses a positively charged barrel to shoot negatively charged atoms. Almost like a lighting bolt, the discharge of energy can incinerate almost anything and short-circuit most electrical items.  

Common Sychrian Weapons:
Hornet Nest: A creature nothing more than a maw and a a-sexual reproduction organ that produces the hornet bugs.  The creature has unlimited ammo and can fire an eight round burst or a semi auto hive of twenty four bugs.  

Grutchin Guns: A small reptile that when a person feeds it organic grenades it can fire them out like rounds from a grenade launcher.  

Zap Bug: An Uzi size bug that fire an electrical bolt of energy.

*Most Talon Crèche Weapons are similar to human projectile rifles just with different grips and sizes.

The Cooperations

Saul Conglanmerate: In 4756 the resurrected Philip Morris and AOL Time Warner merged with StarCorp, a interstellar ship building company, and SunFreight, an interstellar shipping company, to form the Saul Conglermate. Under the leadership of CEO Frederick Saul the new conglermate started eating up property and space lanes in the Sol, Juniper, and Hydian Systems.  The Sol and Juniper systems are barren of resources except for the few rogue asteroids but booming with population.  Sol system has 9 colonized planets and Earth the home of humanity. The Juniper system has three colonized planets and several space colonies.  Hydian is a twelve planet system with two colonized planets. One an EC class planet, the other is Mars like but has several underground cities.  The ten remaining planets seven of them have rock/magma cores and are very rich in resources. One is a volcanic world, the rest are gas giants.  But with a ver small population in the system many resources are left to be exploited and shipped to buyers in Sol and Juniper.  With little comptetion or regulation the Saul Conglanmerate is one of the top power houses in the galaxy.

TellSat:  Formly Board of Interstellar Communications or BIC was the branch that ran communications for the Federal Alliance.  When the Federal Alliance started to brake apart TellSat broke away and turned cooperate.  The BIC was the only branch of government that remained relatively intact and preserved during the Resource Wars and upheaval before the Cooperations gained full control.  TellSat remained strictly neutral in all conflicts inreturn the TellSat company retained rights to every Digital Flash Beam Generator, the machines that allowed for relaively realtime contact with other starsystems and maintained the GNet the roughly galactic version of old Earth's Internet.  Such a critical resource was vital to the developement of a coorperation.  With the power to install an interstellar blackout not many choose to trifle with TellSat.

Gencore: An ancient genetic egineering company that egineered replacement organs for hospitals during the centuries before the rise of the Federal Alliance was remade during the FA into producing geneticaly egineered human soldiers.  Genes identified as causes for disease and cancers were exterminated, genes that caused strength, endurance, inteligance, etc. were made dominant.  During the FA's rise these troopers were used for security and law enforcement.  Several were Capitans of the first Flashspace ships.  At it's peak the FA discontinued the program because of a lack of need for the troopers.  A smaller more advanced program was maintained codenamed Operation CyberGene it aimed to create an even more advanced trooper but the end of the FA shattered the program's funding and ended it.  Gencore came from the remains of the Medical Ward of the FA after it's fall Gencore was a small group of genetists, and upper administrators banded together under Nathan Hawks the Scientist General.  They found the remains of the trooper program and started producing the Gene Troops again.  Nathan started Genecore by selling the first Troopers as security personel and drill sergents.  In passing decades the Trooper program expanded enough to where the corperate CEO's could lease out mercenary regiments of some of the most elite fighting units ever created.  With the Cooperate Wars burning full tilt at the end of the FA Genecore hored its soldiers to all sides and gathered a respectable profit and maintained it's power while other cooperations blasted eachother into oblivion.

Cooperate Wars

The intial fall of the Federal Alliance(FA) was sparked when the members of the Advisor Council to Captaion General each pulled a used a sharp ceremonial pen and killed Ferd Alsair the leader of the Federal Alliance.  The bodyguards of each council member killed and overpowered the Captaion General's guards.  All of his family members were assassinated during the meeting anyone remarkably loyal to him was eliminated in the upper echleons of government in twenty-four hours.  The cooperate wars sparked when the leaders of the seperate branches of the government fought over the control of the total resources of the FA.  The whole thing fell into a series of wars with the ten board members areas of control loyal to them and fighting over eachother's assets.  Technologies that were taken for granted during the FA became almost exticnt.  Only when seven five major forces were left and people realized that the stability of interstellar travel was threatened did things settle down.  The cooperations took advantage of the need for products and went full tilt into production.  In a couple decades Council Region were redefined by the cooperations that ruled them.

The Last Two Major Cooperations

Nissan-Honda:  During the years before the FA veichle manufacturers raced to provide affortable private space transportation.  Nissan and Honda were the big winners and formed a merger that allowed them to gather the resources for the first private space transportation veichle. It was dubbed the Shadowcat class Yacht.  The Shadowcat was twenty meters long had a three hull design that allowed it to survice even the most severe accidents. Required one pilot had Kanta 9000 Antimatter powerplant that generated upwards six thousand tons of thrust per second.  It was famous for its surviability and amphibous capabilities. (Amphibious in the sense it could go space of land on a planetary surface.)  
       
During the years the company served as a branch of FA it was the first branch to incorperate a flash space engine into a real space ship.  This ship class was named the Federal class FlashCarrier.  It was four hundred and meters long with a high capacity Flashspace drive and a docking bay that could hold up to ten ships each twenty meters average in length or any other combinations.  It had a large Kyoto Mark 1 Antimatter power plant that could produce upwards of a billion kilojoules of energy.  It also had eight PAC turrents for point defense.  It carried a crew of 256 and could carry 512 passengers.  
     
The Federal class ship was also the platform with which the company built the Accord class FlashCruiser when the FA started to fall apart a new generation of space combat was born.  Rather than gathering a huge task force of months and years and ponderously traveling across deep space to smash against a target.  Flashspace combat ships could Flash into a system and Flash out with in mere hours.  Hit and raid tactics, surprise assaults were now viable tactics.  With more powerful antimatter power plants a FlashSpace combat ship was the empitomee of space combat.  The Accord class ship was a shocking six hundred meters long had two Kyoto Mark 2 power plants that expotentially increased their power.  It mounted six large scale Gauss batteries, and 32 guide missle turrents and ports. It had a four compartment hull and a Magnetic Field Generator that could slow the velocity of magnetic projectiles.  The Accord class could dock with other large scale ships and had a miniture docking bay that could hold twelve small fightercraft. It had thick hide to boot and powerful enough engines it could cruise into orbit around a planet and escape orbit again.  These ships gave Nissan-Honda a severe advantage over other companies which used several modified Federal class ships and similiar designs.


SingSing Industries  The mining conglermerate of the galaxy with stakes in over 50 different asteroids, moons, and planets the newly formed mining conglermerate rose from the ashes of three branches of the FA. The labor, mineral, and security branches.  It survived the Cooperate Wars by laying low and selling resources to whoever demanded any, it used it's employees like slave with little pay, barracks, security guards controlling facilities and enforcing brutal powers.  SingSing is closeknit and very secretive offering wonderful jobs to hopeless people then shipping them to labor bases to be conuscripted into the labor force.  With is kept passive with brutality and threats, and little access to the outside world.

Faction 1105:  A band of subvertive laboerers in the SingSing Industry that have been sparking riots and protests or late.  The leader is an enigmic woman named Ethel no one knows who she is or even if she's with the company.  As the leader of Faction 1105 she is wanted for starting anti cooperate movements and heralding a return to the Federal Alliance.
