Terescence: Organizations
« on: June 01, 2004, 10:05:51 PM »
In this thread I'm going to post info on some of the organizations in the world. Some of them are expansive and continent-wide, while some are small and only starting to gain members. Feel free to add comments and suggestions if you see anything that you think you can improve...

The Hand of the Asp
« Reply #1 on: June 01, 2004, 10:34:07 PM »
The largest group in Terescence is the Hand of the Asp. In the simplest terms they are the mafia, a massive crime syndicate spanning the entire western continent of Nor'Doth. A good hundred plus years ago, they took over the last remaining Thief's Guild on the continent and ever since have been the "only" source of illegal activity. Smuggling, robbery, assassinations, political maneuvering, their activities run the gamut. They hunt down and brutally exact 'commission' from anyone who acts illegally within their territory(which is vast), unless that person joins them and works for them. Just like in 1920's and 30's in New York or Chicago, they have legitimate business fronts: taverns, inns, stores, etc.

Society for the Excavation and Repair of Artilian Artifacts
« Reply #2 on: June 01, 2004, 10:55:19 PM »
The Society for the Excavation and Repair of Artilian Artifacts is in the employ of The School. The title is actually a glorified one for people who are, in essence, mechanics and dungeon-crawlers. They mainly concern themselves with locating and exploring Artilian keeps and ruins and then  reporting anything they learn back the The School. Any artifacts, both working and non-working are moved to the labs at The School, if they can be. Those places with artifacts too large to be moved(such as the steam engines that are occasionally turned up) are staffed with permanent crews to try and get them working and to try and duplicate the technology.

Crusaders of Tymat
« Reply #3 on: June 01, 2004, 11:33:10 PM »
The holy knights of Terescence. These are men and women(though women have only been allowed in for the last 75 years or so) who have pledged their lives to the service of Tymat, god of Good and Justice. They guard temples and shrines, seek out servants of Gorshina and have them arrested or, if the situation warrants, they kill them. They also act as escorts for ambassadorial and peace-keeping missions. Lly'Saana's Heart are very closely related with the Crusaders and the two groups work together on the more missionary based and charitable quests they do.

Lly'Saana's Heart

In a world of violence and anger there is always someone devoted to the preservation of life and the healing of others. These men and women are valiant apothecaries and priests/priestesses who wanted to go out into the world and help those they can. A member of this group of healers will think nothing of charging into the midst of a battle to help a fallen comrade. Some are even involved with traveling the world, healing those who need it and recruiting anyone who feels this is a life they wish to have. As noted above, they are regularly seen in the company of Crusaders of Tymat.
