Rothfuss is another whose style I very much enjoy. Plus, he looks like a dwarf and how can you go wrong with that.

Kvothe!!

I reread the two books just this month. What boggles me about it is that it seems that the story just begun and there is supposedly just "one more day" of story telling available to finish it (ie. one book). I agree I liked the first one better but like the second better than many other novels so still awesome. Always great seeing the underdog embarrass his "betters."

Awesome though, I must say.

Yeah, either he is going to add more days, or the next book will be a whopper! Hopefully the tale continues after his history as well!

I'm currently reading Michael F. Flynn's Eifelheim. It has great appeal to me as both a historian and a science fiction fan. Setting a SF novel in medieval Germany is kind of a risk, but he nails it with the historical detail and techy-but-real science and mathematics talk in the non-medieval portions of the book.

I'm probably late to the bandwagon, but I love The Dresden Files.  I just finished book nine (White Night) and am impatiently waiting for the bastard who has the next book to check it back into the library :P

Ah, the Dresden Files are brilliant! It's never too late!

I'm currently reading "A Feast for Crows" - I cannot get enoug GoT, definitely one of the best authors I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Once I finish with the books, I have the task of saving to buy the series on DVD.

Just finished Book 2 of The Codex Alera by Jim Butcher, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.  The first book left me kinda cold for some reason, and I hadn't planned on finishing the series.  Now I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.  The characters are much better in this one -- far more mature -- and the plotting is really tight.  And at only six books long, it's unlikely to devolve into a long slog like The Sword of Truth.  Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good epic fantasy to jump into.   :read:

Just finished the Liveship Traders Trilogy by Robin Hobb and I must say it was pretty badass. I enjoyed his Assassin Apprentice books a long time ago and wasn't ready to reread them so gave these a try. Very glad I did. Very interesting idea to them and some of the characters were pretty neat. Others were just as cool but left a little too much mystery about them by the end of the book. But all said, "D'aaar, they be a great breed of book they are."

Now reading some normal fiction that my wife said I must read. Read one of hers in between the trilogies. Next I am looking at some Guy Gavriel Kay books. I know they are technically trilogies so was going to start with Tigana. Seems everyone says read that one. Still stalling on reading the last Wheel of Time book. I think I am going to read them all the way through one more time.

Having read The Doomsday Vault and the Impossible Cube.  I have found and have nearly finished Dragon Men - the third book in the Clockwork Empire series.

I am looking for Havoc Machine, in the same steampunk setting, just different characters.

Robin Hobb is great, I've soon read almost all her work (she's a she btw, real name, Margaret Astrid Lindholm Ogden). Currently reading the Golden Fool. And the Wheel of Time is great too, haven't read the final book yet though.

Just finished Worm, a behemoth of a web serial about a teenage girl with the super power of controlling bugs.  I enjoyed it, but I will give you the heads up that it clocks in at the better part of 1.75x10^6 words.

When I read it, it took approximately 2 weeks. Which is about what I expect when reading the equivalent of an entire book series. Definitely worth your time, though don't get any ideas about reading it all in one sitting.

Thread Tax: Ignoring manga, the most recent tale I finished was Promise of Blood, a swords-n-sorcery-n-gunpowder story that sucked me in and kept me along for the ride until the last page. Also well worth your time.

Been reading more of Matthew Reilly books, specifically his Shane Schofield series, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shane_Schofield which are non stop action and special forces style mayhem, framed in a near future settings that's readily believable and holds true to the capabilities of real world military weaponry, and actual combat tactics for the most part.

Fair warning through, they're really hard to put down once you pick one up.

This:

is what I'm now engrossed in, started reading it yesterday and haven't been able to put it down.

Another book on my to-read shelf is The Engines of God by Jack McDevitt, which looks to be more fascinating.

Across this boring, bank holiday weekend I've managed to cram in 3 books:

Simple Genius - David Baldacci. First time I've read any of his books, and it hooked me quickly. Good book. Will read more of him in the future.
Digital Fortress - Dan Brown. I've read most of his previous works (all of the Robert Langdon ones), some good, some meh :/ This one was ok.
The Racketeer - John Grisham. Can't believe I haven't read anything by him before. Hooked. Will certainly read more.

And now I'm reading Lone Survivor by Markus Lutrell. Good book so far, hard and humorous. Saw the movie when it was released back in January. A good film, but I won't be adding it to the 'buy' list.

I also have a few books on my shelf - borrowed from the library - about writing. Though I know I'm nowhere near that level yet. So I'll probably return them. I did pull a couple of good daily challenges from them though.

Any recommendations for what to read next?

Just finished the Hunger Games trilogy, mind it was a translation(which is normally a no-no for me). It was a good read with a twist or two, though it got worse towards the end. The character Katniss was very unsympathetic in my eyes.

Also done with the last part of the Fool trilogy by Robin Hobb. And now starting on part two of the Rain Wilds novels by the same.
They read a bit sluggish at time, with Little to no action/development but the World itself is very rich and Deep, with a few interesting characters sprinkled throughout.

Lately I've seem to been reading nothing with less than 1,000+ pages...
As for recommendations(Kaz),...I've got nothing. I don't recognize any of those authors, except vaguely Grisham.

I remember reading the Hunger Games last year at some point. The first book was good. You could tell however that the author (name forgotten) was pushed (can't think of the word I wanted) as part of a deal to pump another two books out. In other words the last 2 books felt very rushed. I was able to deduce towards the end of the second book pretty exactly what would happen next and over throughout the last book.

I bought another David Baldacci thriller this morning, at about 0400. Couldn't sleep. Go figure. The latest King and Maxwell. Cannot wait to finish Lone Survivor so I can move onto this!

Finished Sword of God. Much action, couple of LoL moments.

Read Andy McNab's 'Fortress' last night in one go.

Started reading King and Maxwell by David Baldacci this morning and managed to get a third of the way through. I'm certainly hooked and will read more of his books.
