A peculiar guild of specialists. "Flick your ticks, slice your lice, squeeze your fleas."
One thing that has been stressed over and over on this site is that reality can emulate fantasy. There are so many different real world events that can be transformed into gaming material that one should literally never run out of new content.
This is a template I put together for a friend of mine while we played palladium Fantasy. Our campaign lasted well nearly seven years which had world shattering and altering events which led to the rise and fall of many religions as well as religions altering their view and edicts. This was what transpired from one of those changes.
A loose organization of heros who have toppled regimes, the Brothers of Dusk and Dawn have given their lives to the Gods of Chaos, becoming potent agents of change through out the known worlds…
Ishchali has been known by many names, but Caedmon is what he is most widely known for on Hewdamia. His name means many faced, or four face and he is represented by his four different personalities. Most of his past is shrouded in mystery, his many names and faces represent the multi faceted nature of this divine being. Each facet, each face has a different personality and each has its own place and purpose in his plans for the future of Hewdamia, and all those that call him Master.
Ma-O was a major God once, or so it is said, and whilst most of his worshippers ceased to worship him after his fall from grace, a very few remain, and can and do cause trouble out of all proportion to their numbers…
Looking back on things, Keldor was the most unlikely of prophets. While charismatic, he was short, of middling birth, a half breed, and of a questionable profession. Yet his words have change the very fabric of society and created a lasting peace.
The balance must be kept in check. Today you suffer my anger and wrath but tomorrow we shall dine and laugh. Forgive me for my duty my child, it is the way of Order. Choas today, Order for tomorrow.
- Priestess of Xukthalas preaching to a fallen foe.
Father of depths, of shadow, and destruction. I pray to thee to give me the strength needed to sweep through our enemies so that we may continue to bring about the end of the reign the weakling gods. In this I pray to serve.
- Follower of Sethalis praying for spells.
By the sun that burns the weakness from our very souls, I call out to thee oh Seeker of Pain and Strife, of War and Strength, so that I may please you in the battle to come.
- Warrior Priest of Perteum prayer before battle.
The priest’s ability of prayer as well as their divine spells comes not from themselves, but from their Deity. Because of this, very few abilities are personal to the priest as all others who have chosen this path or had it chosen for them. Even so, while most of their prayers and divine spells will be the same, there will be a few differences or a few different abilities depending on the deity that the priest worships. This is the codex of the religious followers of Hewdamia.
Brother, do not view me as an outsider. I am purely here to record what transpires and have no desire to step forth and interfere with the proceedings. It is my duty as an Apostle of Kameakias to record this so that the gods do not forget.
-Preist of Kameakias at the excecution of King Arboin for treason to his people.
The time has come, our Fathers’ child, to release yourself to His whim and enter into our warm and loving arms. He awaits you on the other side for judgment. Hush now, there is no worries once in his realm as pain and sorrow are no more.
- Priest of Kasal, speaking over a dying soldier.
A powerful clan of blacksmiths, Clan Ironspirit is well known as the single best source for forged goods of any metal throughout the world. Many a legendary artifact has been born underneath their hammers, however, their price is almost never something so simple as mere gold.
Most Vampires get their own feed and don’t care who they get it from. But for the highest Lords of the Vampire hierarchy they have little time to go about the process of obtaining blood and prefer some of a good source, so they get their Quartermasters to take blood of good quaility from important victims.
“The great hulk of the scaled beast lay wheezing before me, and I am not ashamed to say that I was frightened: though it was injured, I knew the dragon could easily tear me in twain. The young monk, however, knelt beside the creature’s head, whispering to it in a strange growling tongue. I questioned the woman, but she ignored me completely, engrossed in examining the scaly monster. After much badgering, she said merely, ‘I do not mean to be rude, but you are quite a distraction. Please, leave me to my work.’” -Jeron’s Great Journeys, Book III, Chapter 4
The siblings of the Emperor:The High Priests
Trust in dreams, for in them is the hidden gate to eternity.
“There shall be among you lying teachers who shall bring in sects of perdition and And the task will be given to you to bring them the truth. If they will not accept what you bring, you must cut off their heads and trample their bodies underfoot, for this is the only way to save your children, and your children’s children, from growing up under false gods and heathen images.” - Excerpt from “Our Cause”
Whether in pencil-and-paper, or on the computer (Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale), we’ve been plagued by the gnome stereotype of foolish inventor and chaotic law-infringing businessman. I guess it’s time to change that. I’ve decided to throw a bone: help me make the gnomes a race worth featuring in an RPG.
The Forest of Throck:
Throck forest is divided into three parts: a region of twisted black magic, which is dark and hemmed in with the legions of sable pine. This is Spindel, and is occupied by the hideous Ettercaps and their spider-pets. The second area is the chaotic elfin-wood, where the druids work their wyrd magic amongst the oaks. The last part is Udnalor, the home of the gnomes. Finding themselves surrounded by these chaotic forces they dwell as quietly as possible beneath the surface. Their culture is a fascinating one to visit, and in the next few miscellaneous ideas, I shall examine the ways and customs of THE GNOMES OF UDNALOR, with a view to role-playing them.
