I'm midway between Moon and Dragon Lord here; the rough idea is definitely cliche - the tinker gnome design - but I do admit I find the concept somewhat amusing, and I do like the idea that he absently stumbled across something as potent as Greek Fire, which is how discoveries usually tend to be made on these kinds of oddities.

I rather expect he'd have been in the kitchen rather than an alchemy lab, though; kitchens are where both vulcanized rubber and a particular explosive I can't recall the name of were discovered, by some men goofing off in the kitchen when they were supposed to be looking for work. Go to Comment

It should of been in the minor/ extras thread to be warmly received. But since the extras/ minors will be in the npc listing eventually, no harm no foul.

If I read this right Dimble just likes to learn all he can, which of course sometimes involves a few "little experiments", regardless of the consequences.

It's not hat he's "bad" because he isn't, he's just reckless. He gets intrigued by what he CAN do. He just never stops to think about whether he SHOULD do it.

True, a bit if a cliche, but he does make an interesting NPC. He could be used to cause all sorts of problems without actually being a villain (means the PCs can't just beat him up and call it a day - they'll have to find a different solution).

BTW - I think the Greek Fire is perfectly within character - he found the formula (maybe not actually realising what it as) and, true to type, mixed it up to see what it does - BOOM and Magus Allister Serianden bids him a fond farewell

Hmmm. Should of been enetered in the exotic weapons thread, since it is a type of item, rather than a special class of item or a one off item.

It is an interseting weapon that only shows up in the more complete weapons lists. Palladium books and GURPs being the only two places I have ever seen it. Go to Comment

While I appreciate that macaroni is making people aware of a little-known weapon, the whole piece is made of two snippets quoted from texts on armor and weapons.  This would be better treated as a stub entry.

Not going to vote on this as it is incomplete and what is there appears to be nothing more than text pasted from other sources. Despite that, I do like this weapon and am glad to come across a mention of it. I had never heard of it and had to do an image search to even get an idea of what it looked like. Interesting, to say the least.

Very well thought out, though I do have a couple suggestions.
1) Try to make things a bit more game-independent. "The mayor will fight as a level 15 mage", and the bit about the fortitude save against the plant releasing them. While these are somewhat general, they have an obvious leaning toward DnD, which I can tell you from experience is a game shunned and cursed by a number of people at the Citadel. I myself play the WotC game and know what you are talking about, but many others may not, or will prefer not to.

2) I think my only other real advice would be to leave the "7 orcs and 3 goblins" as a suggestion. For a higher level game to successfully run this plot, they would need a larger threat to drive them into the caves and keep them occupied once within the dream-reality. Also, once(if) the players destroy the plant, you may want to leave the orcs and goblins instantly attacking them more open to roleplay. I can easily imagine such creatures being grudgingly grateful that the players have released them from this dream and hence, they wouldn't neccessarily attack on sight.

Those are my two cents, and like I already said, I think its a good idea and I will see if I can use it myself. 4/5 Go to Comment

Has anoyone of you read Terry Pratchett's 'Sourcery' ? There, the drive of every wizard to build a tower for himself and himself only is depicted - the highest number of wizards that can cooperate is one, and what is a better abode than an ominous tower, like a warning finger, a symbol of his power (and a phallic symbol as well)?
Wizards and towers are an archetype, so closely connected that if a wizard decides to live in a comfortable villa where he does not have to walkas many stairs, all his colleagues will tap their foreheads.

Uh, and as for the post - a good one! The construction of a highway as opposed to say a pyramid is unique in encountering new problems as the construction progresses and the highway's front moves along. Go to Comment
