I agree with Drackler, and I do like it... But, I was expecting this to be some sort of cover for something far more sinister, and Tabs' Insanity was a letdown. I wanted some really wacky, out there, and/or dangerous candy. However, if I ever need some candies for a game, I know where to look. Go to Comment
Not everything needs some immediate game mechanic, to help or to harm the pc's. This is an interesting setting, complete with lots of detail. As an added bonus, this are sweet details that the characters can take with them. I could easily spend an hour or two of gaming here, and play it out in real-time.
One player made something similar for Midian (http://lost-souls.co.nr/drupal/node/105), with a few having effects other than being tasty, but it is not this well fleshed-out. Go to Comment
Wow...If I ate any of these I'd probably get sick. Good job, Stephie. You do a nice job describing the different types of candies. However, I would like to know how it's supposed to be used in a game. Could the players purchase some candy, and then get mugged for it? Or use it to distract guards outside of a door that they need to get into? I would suggest some "Plot Hooks" at the end, just to help all of us to better use your idea. Go to Comment
I must say I quite like this! I can't see too many applications in game, but having such a thing would definitely help add depth to any setting. My one gripe is that now I crave this candy, and I know not where to buy some. Drat. Go to Comment
I was going to write a long comment, but realized that I simply want to say, I LOVE minor npc's like this. First off, which fantasy campiagn world could NOT use a leecher npc??!! And second, nice take on one. Go to Comment
Arune Spheres are hollow, blue reflective metallic spheres about 25 cm/ 10" in diameter (though some are larger). They are made of a thickish glass mirrored on the inside. When magical energies are flowed through the sphere, it produces a haunting tone, which can be varied by the type, intensity, and harmonics of energies passed through it. (It sounds like an electronic organ.) If multiple energy flows are generated, multiple sounds can be generated, some of which sound like mundane instruments. Masters of The Craft can replicate almost any sound in their memory with one. Though originally used as a training tools for those with The Power, it has been adapted to be a musical instrument. All it takes is someone with patience, medative training, and a touch of the Power, to use it. (Thus becoming the favorite instrument of anyone who was tested to the first level of the Craft, but failed to advance).
