Up the Road a little way from Now, you will find a number of offramps for The City. In fact, you can see The City from the Road, even if you don't stop.
The Road is a central point on the Multiversal Web of HappenTracks and WorldLines. Some would call it Cynosure, while others would call it The Only City. From the City, you can travel to just about anysphere or realm in the 'Verse. Go to Comment
Aside from being The Attack of the Parentheses, this is a fairly nice submission. I like the road analogy for time traveling, though I must admit I've not read Amber or Zelazny so I'll have to take your word on it ;) Go to Comment
3/5 because of the sketchy appeance. It would not be difficult to use it as a template. The general idea on the main site, however, seems to be to provide a thorough background (for the item, as well as the organization).
In addition: there is too much of an "Excalibur look and feel" about the item for my taste. Altars are cool and invaluable, but these have been seen before in other incarnations. (The aforementioned Excalibur (in its stone), the Dragon orbs of Krynn/Dragonlance(resting on their altar/pedestal), etc...) Go to Comment
I must admit that a sword is prone to getting lower grades from me, exactly because they are so difficult to make original. I think there are very few swords that has not already been made in a 1000 incarnations.
So such items lose their 1 point for originality. The last point (4->5) I reserve for truly spectacular items.
Nothing wrong with a 3. I just stated why I voted as I did. I hate when there is no feedback to an item. Everyone ought to get feedback. Go to Comment
Interesting if typical fantasy device but, well, too vanilla. This needs editing and a rewrite before I'd even give it a vote. Of all the related subs, the fire gems were the strongest in this regard, but it still doesn't make these entries seem any less plain. Needs another pass. Go to Comment
This post is really nothing without the others. All four posts that are linked together are required to be viewed before any of them make great sense. In reality, they are one post with four different ways to access it. Go to Comment
Oh, I like him. He's got so many possibilities, and I can well imagine that some of his various enemies are driven to distraction by him. The inevitable assassination attempts would be interesting, since he's like this all the time. He reminds me a lot of Captain Jack Sparrow, only without the associated exaggerated ego. He WILL be used. Go to Comment
