This is a great idea, a demi-goddess the converts to another religion! Her reasons for converting to faith are all rooted in vanity and all her kindness is tempered by pathological narcissism. Great stuff for 3rd and 4th generation role-playing games. It is held back by its blunt prose, excessive "I am so clever" winking at the reader stuff, an emphasis on combat or physical encounters over characters and oh so many tangents. It is like you couldn't find your voice in this one.
But over all great idea, lots of fun details, I really like the plots as well, just a ton of possibilities. Go to Comment

A unique and interesting NPC sure to pique the interest of any adventuring group, especially if they are troubled men.

I would enjoy seeing some additional plot hooks to round out the piece, and perhaps a bit more clarity on her actual powers/abilities to make GMing her easier.

Update: I have added a section on Evica's abilities.

I also added four plot ideas for Evica. The fourth is especially lengthy, and I'm not a big fan of walls of text. Should I move the plot ideas in their own post, or is this the right place for them? Go to Comment

Update: Another edit. Edited a lot for clarity and sectioning, some rewrites, and some new content, too. Extended Plot Ideas #2 a modest bit and #4 a little, but with more history and names. Go to Comment

This is one of those subs where I might have a minor quibble or two about the execution but love the idea and the surrounding details so much I'm giving it a 5/5.

Evica (for some reason I hear that name in Helena Bonham Carter's lispy voice) is the kind of recurring character that can really give the sense of a changing world. She changes and develops (though keeping certain players from finding a reason to kill her might be tricky at times) over time in a way that can give a sense of passing time. The PCs meet her at one point and she appears to be completely devoted to the faith. Meet her later on and she's booking passage to take up her demonic legacy.

I also like that she's a conflicted villain. It makes the story more poignant, in my eyes. She also seems both oddly naive and monstrous. A tricky combination which I believe you have nailed. She really resonates with me.

I find myself trying to figure out how much I need to do to adapt this figure to bring her into my own game, even though it's a departure from my current plans. I will definitely need to adapt some of those scenarios for a system that doesn't make the characters as tough as level-based systems do.

Interesting take on dark unicorns. I have to echo Echomirage(forgive the unintentional pun) and say that the part about the Mordanfey's abilities being limited by human observation is an excellent touch. Go to Comment
