This is one of those subs where I might have a minor quibble or two about the execution but love the idea and the surrounding details so much I'm giving it a 5/5.
Evica (for some reason I hear that name in Helena Bonham Carter's lispy voice) is the kind of recurring character that can really give the sense of a changing world. She changes and develops (though keeping certain players from finding a reason to kill her might be tricky at times) over time in a way that can give a sense of passing time. The PCs meet her at one point and she appears to be completely devoted to the faith. Meet her later on and she's booking passage to take up her demonic legacy.
I also like that she's a conflicted villain. It makes the story more poignant, in my eyes. She also seems both oddly naive and monstrous. A tricky combination which I believe you have nailed. She really resonates with me.
I find myself trying to figure out how much I need to do to adapt this figure to bring her into my own game, even though it's a departure from my current plans. I will definitely need to adapt some of those scenarios for a system that doesn't make the characters as tough as level-based systems do.Go to Comment
