Okay, Dr. Broken Record clears his throat...
This needs expanding upon. Lots of expanding upon. As it is, put it in as an idea, not a full submission. If thouroughly worked through, pimped up, made sexy and seasoned with some novel twists, it could be great. Make into a fully fledged adventure compendium, like you could buy in paperback back in the olden days, and I will applaud you. As it is, it really doesn´t do much for me.
A short man with a rather large gut, and very little hair left; Bruno is one of the city's oldest Lawyers. Although he no longer practices law, he now works in the archives. Digging out that which may be useful in the days cases and copying some of the older legal proceedings and statements so that they do not fade or fall victim to rot.
He has been a regular of The Cockatrice for many decades now, and has eaten and drank nearly everything there is, both on and off of the menu. In fact he has been spending much of his time in the kitchen, taking great pleasure in aiding Elena in matters culinary and gossip.
Many people wouldn't think that he'd be any good at 'Ringing the Cockatrice', they would be wrong. He may be small and getting on, but his aim is quite good. Something the other patrons have come to respect him greatly for, that, and his help in creating new dishes with Elena.
He is a very busy old man, quite the opposite of most would expect. As such he doesn't have that much time on his hands to socialise as one normally would, but if someone should wish to talk to him about his culinary experiments he will eagerly accept. Providing they can do multiple things at once. Go to Comment
I like the idea of the cockatrice and how it fits in with the place. It gives it a distinctive feel over what could be just another tavern. The bit about the lawyers is fun, showing that their motives were strong, if not altruistic.
I do think that there could be more. Perhaps divided into sections, with one for the history, another for the description and the cockatrice head, plus another with some detail about the regulars (even if only in passing for those who might get their own sub), A few quotes and fluff/descriptive text couldn't hurt either, although that's just a personal preference. If you ever expand this piece, let me know and I will revote.
In any case, welcome to the Citadel, and I hope to see more. Go to Comment
Thank you for the welcome, and the help so far MysticMoon.
I can try deviding it into sections, each with their own title. An extra section with some regulars would definitely give the place some more colour. With some research into old inns/buildings I think I could give a better description of the place.
If I get around to updating this, I will let you know. Go to Comment
While traveling trough farm land the PCs come upon a merchant sitting on a wrecked wagon without a mule attached to it, hid face burrowed in his hands. He explains that he was robbed by petty goblins, unable to defend himself he had retreated. He asks the PCs to help him retrieve the mule before the goblins roast it, as a reward they may keep his goods. How hard can it be?
