Love the "voice" on this piece! I almost feel as if I'm reading a treatise by some Victorian-era Darwin type, who is either about to "off himself" or be hunted down by beings-man-was-not-meant-to-interact-with.

Intriguing and yet somewhat vague, which i like. To echo Gossamer, the mystery of Eath's tiring is a fascinating one. Go to Comment

At first I thought it a bit cheap to name them thus. But your reasoning makes a lot of sense, after all, why do we call it life? Though I'm sure there's some answer in latin, or a language derived from the same, it is still an interesting question to pose. And the idea of Death tiring, would make for a very interesting(albeit chaotic) campaign setting, no doubt.

Additional ideas:
- A wizard/scientist that tries to synchronize seeds with the plant at the center of the dungeon to make the source jump into one of them (looking for eternal life).
- An evil cult that has on its agenda to pursue and destroy the spark of life (they think they have the means). Go to Comment

I can't say I've seen anything quite like this before. Seems like the best way to attack this place is to try disintegrating/flaming the place from the outside before entering. Those creatures and plants may not entirely die, but enough of the brush would be cleared away that you could conceivably make it to the center, if you wished.

Right now, I'm trying to think of other ways to use this thing -- perhaps have the seed linked to a magical plant of some sort, for additional effects. It would be interesting to play around with the life aspect a bit more, as well (either making it impossible to procreate or, inversely, make the critters around it incredibly fertile). Go to Comment

Useful, quite original. No obvious spelling or grammar mistakes, reads easily. Nicely done, full score.

Here a few typos I found;

Apart form total annihilation of its physical form

Or the players are send to tend the garden of a mage

plant in the heart of the dungeon, nothing can stop it from dieing when it's life cycle comes to an end

What the others said. This provides an excellent background for any potential game and by influencing the personal quirks of the weapon, a GM can shape the path that a PC takes. Also, as Scras commented, it is extremely well written. I foresee this becoming one of the most popular subs in the Citadel. Go to Comment

The writing is top quality, and flows quite well. It did drag on a bit long about 2/3rds of the way through, I must admit. It has a very epic feel to it, not something that is really randomly found, but the central focus in the Hero's Quest. Nicely done sir. Go to Comment

- Spring Wind Bow (late winter and early spring)

Description: The Spring Wind Bow appears to be an ordinary masterwork long bow made out of gray wood (or maybe the wood is colored gray afterwards). Upon closer inspection one will notice that the string of the bow, while being normally hooked on one of its limbs, actually goes into the other. This means it can not be changed, but it seems that it never needs to.

Time of the year: March and April

Special properties: Through the last winter and early spring months the string of the bow has the ability to mystically regenerate to a perfect state. Even if the string has been cut in half at some point through the year, it slowly grows longer and finally splits on the end to make the loop, connecting it to the far limb of the bow. Full regeneration takes 3 days.

Wishes: 1) To shoot down a forest animal needed for food (not hunting for pleasure or any other reason); 2) To protect the forest life by going after a group of poachers or trappers; 3) To kill a powerful undead creature (like a lich) with a budding arrow (for this task the bow itself sprouts an arrow that ends with a sharp green bud at the tip; it can produce one such arrow a day if the previous one is used (so only one arrow available at a time) and stops producing them when the task is done. Budding arrows have an adverse effect on undead, causing a small tree to rapidly grow in their flesh or spirit essence. The type of undead does not matter).

Abilities that the character gains after bonding with the item: Eagle sight. The eyesight of the owner of the bow becomes so sharp, that he can discern a bird in the sky at twice the distance normal people can, or see the blades of the grass twenty meters away. The bow also produces budding arrows if the owner so desires, at the rate of one per week, and only through its special time, meaning that eight arrows can be produced every year. While sprouting arrows the bow is not usable as a weapon and has to be unstrung and kept safe. The sight bonus is still active. The bow also regenerates at any time once the bond is complete. Well, I wouldn't know what to say. Excellent Submission, flawless even, an interesting place for the PC's to end up in if they fulfill the requirements needed.

Many plot hooks could be derived from the items urges.

I shall have to see what ingenious contraptions i can come up with.
