A useful intro for beginners; I would enjoy seeing the sub enhanced with a few helpful bits, such as a laundry lists of common game terms, (OCC, IC, NPC, etc.).perhaps covering online die rollers and a bit about playing nice with others in regards to inter party conflict, spotlight stealing, so forth.
Still, nicely done, and a good place to point those new to forum gaming. Go to Comment

It's alright, though I agree it's too generic to be especially useful. I also found the sentence "If you possess the following aspects in your cute little personality, you'll be the Game Master's pet in no time!" somewhat off-putting.
Consider your audience. Most people who find this article will already be familiar with roleplaying in person (though a list of common acronyms can't hurt). They're going to want you to get into the gritty details of exactly how to do this online. What websites should they visit? What software should they have installed? What are some common etiquette points or gotchas (posting order, waiting for the GM to describe the results, etc)? What can they expect from a forum game (e.g. how do forum games differ from real life games?).
Adding in a list of popular sites on which to find a game (the Citadel Forums included) could help, perhaps. As could covering online dice rollers (as suggested by Silveressa).
In short, a good first effort. With some work, this might help someone one day. Go to Comment
#2 Decide which platform you'd like to play. Keep in mind your time commitments and the pace of the game.
#3 Search for a game using well known sites.
#4 Once you've found a game that appeals to you, research! Find out as much as possible; Setting, Character guidelines, Rules, and any possible restrictions that may be in place.
#5 By now you should have a pretty good idea about the game and if it would suit you. Go ahead and work on a Character Sheet in accordance with the rules and requirements.
#6 Create your Character and if needed submit for approval.
#7 Once you have your approval, go ahead and introduce your Character into the game.
#8 Give the game at least a couple of weeks, and up to a month, depending on it's pace to determine wether or not it is for you.
#9 If you decide that the game is not for you, or you need to dip out for whatever reason. Contact the GM and see if something can be worked out. Don't just drop out as this can ruin games.
#10 You WILL find a game to suit you, not all games appeal to all types. You just need patience and the will to continue looking for that which makes you happy. If you can't find it, why not start a roleplay of your own? Go to Comment
Well that sentence wasn't intended to be off-putting. I thought a bit of humour couldn't hurt.
-The list of acronyms I can do.
-A site index for finding games is also doable with nough research.
-Online dice rollers/generators can also be added.
The only thing that I may struggle with would be online practices and etiquette. While I don't imagine they would differ much to real life there will be some differences. Perhaps someone else could add that part? I lack the experience in online role-playing to do so at present.
Thank you for your response. I'm always happy to receive constructive criticism. Go to Comment
Not sure what is happening as I had no issue editing it or expanding. When you paste from an outside program, use the buttons instead of just pasting. There are three Paste, Paste from Plain Text and Paste From Word. Try one of those next time as the software does some cleaning and paragraph formatting stuff for you. Also, when you edit, try and click on source and that should allow you to get to the bottom of a few things. When you use source you can see how odd the formatting is of your submissions from using a mix of paragraph, divs and line breaks. Normally all you should need is a nice paragraph tag around each paragraph. So the pasting is probably the root of the problem. Go to Comment
Start a thread in the forum with all the difficulties and I will see what I can do. Hate clogging up a submission with all these technical complaints. Go to Comment
That is where the issue is coming from. IPad simply does not really like a lot about this site. The Full chat is an ongoing headache if you are on it with your iPad. Go to Comment
