This is a neat one. Like a somewhat more tame version of the Army of the Dead from Lord of the Rings.

That said, it illustrates more the atmosphere than a physical description of the city.

This has a fair amount of potential, and a decent backstory. The powers seem a little high, but can be considered to be the exaggeration of legend.

Its good, but does not really provide a city image in the manner that the whole City Image thread seems to request. A clear visual description should have started this off, and then led to other details.

I do like the image this paints! Though some linkage to the related subs would be nice.

I could see some tragic hero barrelling into the close ranks of his enemy, the sky heavy and brooding. He is being battled, overwhelmed by numbers even with the booms of the boots. Then the main villain closes with him and defeats the hero. As he yanks his serrated blade out of the dying hero, he notices the shiny boots.

The next moment, a lightning bolt crashes down, killing hero, villain, and many others nearby. The event is viewed as divine intervention by the Hero's allies, inspiring them to surge forth and route the enemy. Go to Comment

I certainly approve of items that are not _free_ to use. Perhaps one could even find those who would volunteer for such duty. Go to Comment

I think this is quite amusing and helps explain how the Dwarves can have so many blasted tunnels! :)

I don't have a problem with spell-using dwarves - the Norse dwarves were pretty magical.

Not sure it is clear to me:

"Over the course of a week or so, the personality and beliefs (but not the memories or knowledge) that the clasp has is transposed to the person who possesses it."

So, WearerMemory = ClaspMemory

" Once that is done, the clasp takes on the personality and beliefs of the wearer, however, the change is very gradual because the person has already fully adopted the clasp’s personality."

Ok, so ClaspMemory = Wearermemory.

Or, simply put, the wearer adopts the Clasp's personality, and the Clasp simply goes through eternity changing people to the first memory it captured?

I like that it brought this item to the collective that is Strolen's.

I don't like that it used the scholarly terminology verbatim from the source site. Apart from music scholars who uses temperament for scale?

I'd think a better fit for this would have either been a forum post for external links, or used as inspiration for a submission with this link added as a footnote.

This seems to me a practical adaptation people would make to such a threat, if they were unwilling or unable to move elsewhere, or destroy the threat.

This is especially true if your dragons are more like giant winged fire breathing red-necks then Smaug.

I like the image this city conjures up, though Scras's comments on fungi and dry environments are worth thought.

Perhaps place this city in the understory of a truly immense jungle, or deep within some cavern. Maybe even replace the elves with gnomes.
