Agree with Muro on this - the shrouds are a nice touch.

A travel book I have from the turn of the last century (pre WW-I) indicates that certain orders of monks (Trappist I beleive) work a few minutes each day at digging their own graves in the morning. Go to Comment

Well, if you edit it again, I'll hold my vote off until then.

Currently, the english is rather bad, and I'd want to know why this particular Sphinx's death put out the gods enough for them to intercede. Go to Comment

An amusing read and an interesting character. It brought to me visions of Heavy Metal in fact (the movie). Go to Comment

This is a great and universal idea. This could easily spawn many adventure ideas - think how many voyages pursuit of such commodities in the real world has generated.

If you are looking for a sub which is on the other side of the spectrum - not saying that is where to go, look at the Alun or the Asrok. Mine are overkill, yours need work.

At least make it better then a scroll entry. This entry would fit in a list of '30 Really Minor Races' or a Idea seed.

My big concern is you are not taking any of the advise given already to improve your posts. Not sure why. Go to Comment

Game of thrones indeed :) He reminds me of the Lannister patriarch Tywin, though even more martial. Obviously his career path has been quite different.

valadaar's comment on 2014-04-21 08:23 AM
I personally would make the downsides more random and slower, to give time to deal with it, and to produce more characters who have been impacted by it.

At the risk of being overly 'scientific' - something I dislike when combined with fantasy, I could easily see an aggressive healing potion being capable of inducing quite virulent cancers.

As for precedence - Look no further than Dr. Jekyle and Mr. Hyde. The potion of monsterfacation is not new.

This is a decent plot for a less serious game where some of its 'plot holes' are not too big a deal.

A decent item - I'd add a multiple-year 'charge' time to it which would serve to add some complexity. Perhaps it is hidden somewhere 'safe' to charge and the PCs are contacted to retrieve it.

Of course the PCs are bringing more then the rod to the villain - they may be a victim as well. Go to Comment

I agree also with Scras. That and all of the paragraphs. It almost seemed to be an attempt to be silly.
