Well, I saw your call to comment on the forums, and I've got to say that I like this. I can already see twists and turns of an adventure forming and plot hooks bubbling. Certainly, I really like the idea of the pattern which allows you to find the destination. The sell and traffic of pattern books would be very convenient, and could lead to a host of adventures.

It also gives an extra motivation to explore the wilderness and find those lost gateways and take a copy of the pattern.

I can also see some really useful applications, since you need to know the pattern, key defensive positions could be accessible only to a class of trained and trusted cleric, who leads men to them using silver and his memory without any artefact, with the pattern obscured at the end, and passed by word of mouth alone through generations of monks.

I don't know what it was like before, but its a 4.5 for me now. Go to Comment

Sweet sub! really freaky...

But is it neccessarily evil? surely you summoned this upon yourself after all, and beyond the horror of watching yourself be torn apart and rebuild, the spider doesnt actually perform any evil act...

Thankyou, I think that was the appropriate response.

I didn't see this post before, but to everybody involved, that was harsh beyond measure. Agony's reply was a sign that he wanted to learn and improve. And indeed, his next post was a whole order of magnitude better. I understand the need for high standard, but some of the post were uncalled for. A few year ago, that could have easily been me. Or as wulfhere mentions, any one of us. And to be honest, If I'd read the comments or been replied to like this, I wouldn't have joined. Because of that, my next posts after the raid on Tantalus IV are going to be a drow post, a demon post, Count Drizzt Neorine van der Kataanen( a vampire), and a unicorn. In honor of the oft mocked classics which still draw people to RP. Go to Comment
Fungus Spear

dark_dragon's comment on 2007-01-17 03:27 AM
Its a good idea, since i don't particularly like lots of magic it allows for nice weapons without enchantments. However it would be nice to have some more symptoms, and perhaps the effect of ingestion. I also imagine that the spear carriers have to use metal spears and have to carry a supply of the fungus safely in some way. it would be nice if that was developed.

However, i like the idea of the fungus, and the idea of using it to carry out disruptive actions is a good thing to throw at the PC either on the recieving or giving end of the problem.

eg: the pc have been tasked with protecting a valuable mine, but recently the timbers seem to have been sabotaged at key locations, however, once the forensic excavations have been carried out it turns out that no sign of tempering can be found. the timbers are all gone!

Anything that gets me going like this is good stuff! perhaps a separate fungus writeup would be cool too! Go to Comment

Pygmalion retold. It has potential for RPing, And I'd be happy to have Her as a PC or NPC.

I can quite happily see her hunting the globe for her lost love and being a recurring NPC that helps the party when their path cross, or a tragic enemy that sells her service to the wrong people in a hope of finding her love again.

Exeptional roleplaying potential to the story, which I'd not considered before, but I feel that this remains very close to the original myth.

Julian and Romiette

dark_dragon's comment on 2007-04-07 06:05 AM
I love this plot, so gald it came up from the depth of the citadel! So much can go horribly wrong: Romiette falls for one of the PCs, the fathers duel in the street, Julian gets abducted as retribution for the steed's death. So much goodness!

The PCs would have to work sooo hard to get these two together. Organising patries, encounters and introductions, all the while keeping this totally silent from the fathers, resulting absolute hilarity for the GM!

Mind you though, the PCs would become quite the socialites after this, and would be incredibly well armed against these situations...

Then again, the easiest solution is probably to abduct them, lock them in a room and let nature takes its course... Surely three years should be enough? Go to Comment

The Lonesome Village
Locations  (Forest/ Jungle)   (City)
dark_dragon's comment on 2007-04-07 07:48 AM
Just found this!

I really like the feel of the village, as a strong self sufficient community, with former disillusioned heros and knights, having seen the horrors of the world and retiring to a remote location.

Questions about the past are unwelcomed here...

The asylum is a really nice touch too. And I can definitely see the guild funding it.

I can also see this palce used as a horror location, with everybody in the normally peaceful asylum going homicidally insane, and the village overrun by homicidal maniacs after a demon incursion or other serious mis-happening, etc... this could be why the PCs are sent in. Find what went wrong, contain, sanitise... will they come out of it with their sanity intact?

5/5 i really like it.

PS:(the aptly named: "The Village" by M. Night Shyamalan might give an idea how the community would work, although i expect the demographic in your village will be different) Go to Comment

A ring to keep on a cord around your neck when not in use then...(you might even be able to wear it as a bracelet, if it can strech that well)

I like the item, although it might be a bit too potents to let the PCs loose with it. (although you could have so much fun with the challenges it creates!!) Go to Comment

Plots  (Nature)   (Single-Storyline)
dark_dragon's comment on 2007-01-31 06:40 PM
Very cool!

What about if the PC find the bugs in some loot? maybe an ancient treasure form a lost port, maybe a burial chamber. They could see that a plague is developing wherever they go, but not know why or how, this could be through rumors and at every tavern, they would hear that the last place they visited has been quarantined because of a mysterious plague!

Perhaps the eggs only kill when they hatch, and one of them is infected, giving them very little time to get to Marlifus... Go to Comment
