There was a greek myth where someone was so consumed by hunger (he ticked off the wrong god) that he eventually began to eat himself... that was the inspiration for that! Go to Comment

The Drawback being whoever has the sword is considered the Warden of Danamax- real or no. The text towards the end of the sub hints to it.

And not all good things must have drawbacks, they just usually do. Go to Comment

Good alternative options to acquire charges could be:
Automatically gains 1/day
Kill an enemy
Bring an enemy under half HP
Cause an Enemy to flee
Dip the bow in the blood of a powerful creature
Feed the Bow Blood (IE: Cut yourself to feed the bow... this could be used as a gambit.)

Some Additional Ideas:
You didn't mention that breaching rounds are great for shooting locks and opening doors.

Bleeders:
Era: Modern
A rubber projectile with a cavity in the tip of the bullet. Upon impact, the tip crushes, releasing any number of liquid contents. Most commonly used with fake blood to simulate shooting someone.

Black Talons:
Era: Modern
Rounds designed to deploy blades during flight to a target. Intended to increase the severity of wounds. Go to Comment

The 'angels' have recently fallen from grace, and are seeking to unleash an unspeakable evil to earn a place in some demon or devil's retinue until they establish themselves. The butchering of a small town of innocents, preferably after driving the majority of them to the abasement of their morals, will serve perfectly.
